Port Washington Fire Department
Protection Engine Company was independently founded in 1892 and is one of four companies comprising the Port Washington Fire Department. The company consists of three fire engines and two firehouses located on South Washington Street (Main House) and Channel Drive (Annex). Protection is an engine company meaning its primary objective is fire suppression and water supply. Each engine is equipped with various hoses, nozzles, and other equipment in order to achieve this objective.
The Port Washington Fire Department is one of the busiest Fire Departments in Nassau County responding to more than 3,000 fire and EMS emergencies each year. These calls range in scope and scale including:

• Brush Fires
• Motor Vehicle Extrication and Fires
• Hazardous Material Incidents
• Emergency Medical Care
• Water Emergencies
