All parents want their children to have the best opportunities to develop their mental and physical abilities; to be the best they can be! Puck University provides a wide range of age-appropriate ice hockey training programs and products for implementing the USA Hockey American Development Model. Through the model, Puck University students are given constant opportunities to improve and to grow, reaping the benefits of being a student-athlete, a life-long learner, a person of character, and a health-oriented individual.
To those ends, Puck University employs three strategies:
1. Improve access to affordable ice time. Provide state-of-the-art Kinetic synthetic ice training centers for year-round cost-effect ice access. Further improve access and lower costs by offering Kinetic Ice rinks for home use as well as use by communities and organizations.
2. Improve access and quality of coaching and training programs. Provide on-site and virtual NHL level coaching at all age levels to correctly implement the long-term athlete development (LTAD) principles of the American Development Model. Use state-of-the-art training systems from G1 Slide Boards as well as offer training products for home use and use by communities and organizations in support of the LTAD principles.
3. Improve coaching effectiveness. Use state-of-the-art testing equipment from Sport Testing Inc. As with academic skills, hockey testing lets students know how they can be the best they can be. Puck University testing identifies strengths and weaknesses so students and coaches can adjust training programs using unbiased data, not guesswork.
