I was disappointed because I had read good reviews. The Chicken Tamales were awful, wrapped in a green tortilla husk with big chunks of I don't know, Potatoes they looked like and then the Carne Guisada were FOUR medium size chunks of pork meat that tasted alright but not enough portion, it was Supposed to come with beans and rice but I guess they ran out of beans and didn't bother to tell me, so it was just a side of rice only. Never Again
Best Pupusas ever. Best customer service too. Love this placeRecommended dishesPopusas
We enjoyed our first experience with pupusas. Definitely felt authentic. Very much a tiny hole-in-the-wall place which I love, but may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Cash only.
Great food. Reasonable prices. I love their pupusas. I can't make them like they do.
OMG, this hole in the wall restaurant serves the most AMAZINGLY Salvador food. This is a must go to restaurant, will be back. I would have eaten the plate but the plate is not edible LOL...
This is a great place for anyone coming to Ottumwa! The food is affordable, incredibly tasty, and served with the absolute best attitude and attention to detail you’ll find in Southeast Iowa! I recommend this place wholeheartedly to anyone interested in trying something a little different than what you might be used to with a typical Mexican restaurant that every town has. This is Salvadoran home cooking at it’s best!
The food here is on point. But unfortunately the portions are just to small. In particular the pupusas are very small when compared to other pupusas. Also the cabbage mix curtido is lacking some flavor compared to quality. I also don’t like that the restaurant is closed for most of June. Almost the entire kf month. Customer service is good. The price is a bit high for the size of pupusas you get in return. I would be happy to give 5 stars if they increased the size.
Forgot to take a picture! Food was wonderful. We had one of each of the pupusas, one tamale, s shrimp dish, and beef soup. Great flavor! We ended with the plantains with cream and beans. All very good. We will go back! It is a cash only place.
The food is great! I orders pupusas and tamales, my husband the tacos and fried plantains- all had a great flavor! I would highly suggest as they have upgraded menu items to include a bigger meal selection
The staff is unbelievably friendly. So many of them stopped by just to see how we were doing. The food is great. I haven't had El Salvadorian this good since I lived with a friend from El Salvador who was going to open his own restaurant. It deserves a better location, but that does not really hurt the quality.
