A dear friend brought me to Kym when I was physically in very bad shape after an extended illness that left me weak and uncoordinated. I was barely able to walk normally because of a lifetime of back, hip, ankle, and toe injuries that were not properly healed. Kym evaluated my unique challenges and carefully modified my pilates program to address each of those limitations. In addition, Kym also has personal experience with nutritional support challenges and is able to recommend safe options, which has helped me learn to eat again while addressing my unique and previously debilitating chemical sensitivities and allergies to food and environmental substances. Kym is an expert at reading the needs of my body and tailors the movements accordingly. I find myself hearing Kym's voice about proper alignment, centering, anchoring, etc. as I apply those concepts to moving safely in my daily life. It is a blessing to have Kym and the Pure Pilates team to guide me into a more healthy, self care mindset. I can wholeheartedly say that Kym has created an intimate, safe, and welcoming place for people like me who are not athletically inclined and are body shy in public. Pure Pilates is a sanctuary zone for me now. Kym is also very flexible in scheduling my sessions to fit my very intense work schedule. I am happy to say that after nearly a year of focused private and duet sessions that I am now able to do a sit up safely and can touch the floor without falling over! I have lost over 20 pounds related to water retention and inflammation. My fat is melting away and my muscle tone is evening out. It feels so great to be able to move again. Kym is gradually extending my movements and says that I am soon to "graduate" to an intermediate level. At 49 years old, I feel young again and am excited that I can keep up with my students and actively engage in life as we are called to be. Just as my friend recommended Kym to me, I recommend Kym and her Pure Pilates team to you. Kym combines her extensive knowledge and skills with a caring heart. I am truly thankful that Pure Pilates is a safe environment where one can be transformed.
Kym has a warm and welcoming teaching style. Due to Kym’s expertise, attention to detail, and straight forward instruction she is able to advise clients with modifications appropriate to their ability regardless of whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student. As a result of small class sizes, each individual receives adequate instruction and attention to ensure proper technique and alignment. Kym focuses on each individual’s weaknesses to help improve strength and flexibility. Since beginning Pilates 5 years ago, I have regularly taken 2 Pilates classes per week and feel strong and toned. Kym is a fantastic instructor and I recommend her without reservation!
Kym took over the studio I attended after the original owners moved out of state, and this has been a wonderful change. This studio is small enough for very personal attention, yet is it large enough that it allows for physical distancing when there is a small class 3-4 people going on. Kym is an amazing teacher, with a keen eye for all the different muscles that are supposed to be working in each exercise. I feel like I have advanced quite a bit in a short time, thanks to her gentle corrections and support. I have also worked with the other instructors at Pure Pilates, Nichole and Danielle. They all are Romano's Pilates teachers, which is true to Joseph Pilates' method. If you are new to Pilates, or are looking to experience what true Pilates is like, I highly recommend Pure Pilates.
I took private pilates lessons from the previous owner of this studio and sometimes switching owners and instructors is hard but Kym Costa is very welcoming, has made me feel incredibly comfortable and the transition has been seamless. Kym and Danielle are helping me to develop and increase my strength and flexibility. Their knowledge and expertise of the Romana's Pilates method is unmatched and they accommodate any limitation I may be having. Kym and Danielle cater to my individual needs and encourage me to work hard. I never feel bored or burnt out. The studio loft is bright and airy and the equipment is very clean and in tip top shape. I wholeheartedly recommend this studio for anyone, any age, any level.

Kym and her team are master Romana's pilates instructors who will help you build the strength, flexibility and control that comes with true pilates. They are warm, positive, and highly encouraging all the while helping you go from wherever you're starting in physical fitness. I worked with Kym almost 20 years ago, then life and careeer took over and after many years I wanted to get back to the powerful way pilates makes me feel strong and healthy in my own body. Starting again from the very basics Kym and Danielle have truly helped me gain my foundational strength back and I'm progressing weekly with their expertise. I highly recommend Pure Pilates Chicago and Kym and Danielle if you are looking for a true pilates practice and studio to work with the best in Chicago!
As a professional dancer and somatics practitioner as well as someone who has studies classical Pilates for over 10 years now, this studio is the real deal when it comes to Pilates. Kym has an excellent eye as well as a caring heart which makes the experience that much richer. Trust me when i say you will feel the burn lol--but also, things are tailored to an individual's level of experience and she creates a very welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to work a bit harder. For that, i am very appreciative!
I’ve done Pilates for 20+ years – the original Joseph Pilates method – and I. Love. This. Place. ! Pure Pilates Chicago offers authentic Pilates – meaning it kicks your butt, making you stronger and more flexible. Yet, Kym is the most sensitive and attentive instructor you could ask for. She knows her clients and anticipates their needs with each workout. She has seen me through many injuries and has been essential to recovery, with the greatest of sensitivity. Additionally, in this time of pandemic uncertainty, Kym provides a very safe environment through use of a high-quality air filtration system, masking, temperature taking, and extensive cleaning between clients. I feel safe and well cared for here!
Meeting Kym Costa was one of the best things that's happened to me. I have fibromyalgia and various joint and feet issues from dancing my whole life. Kym taught a ballet class I was in and introduced me to Pilates & JuicePlus and I am so grateful she did. I lost weight, strengthened my core, and just feel better all around. Kym is such a caring, knowledgeable person that she lights up a room. Taking classes with her has allowed me to build up strength and tone my muscles so much that my pain is manageable without prescription meds. She makes everyone feel comfortable in class no matter your level. She'll provide modifications for injuries or different skill levels and never make you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. If you want to feel better physically and mentally, I highly recommend visiting Pure Pilates Chicago. I've been doing classes on Zoom from home since the pandemic and it's made such a terrible year a whole lot better.
As a new mom with post partum healing, it was extremely comforting to find Pure Pilates and Kym. She is an expert and has been able to tailor exercises to my needs and has helped me become stronger! Her classes virtually and in person are great and I look forward to taking classes with her for a long time.
Perfect for anyone! Any size, shape or level. All the instructors are wonderful to work with. Worth every penny.
