The Purple Palm restaurant was originally inspired by the hotel’s original owner and Purple Gang member Al Wertheimer, a bootlegger from Detroit. The Colony Palms Hotel and the restaurant served as a desert clubhouse for the members of the gang, where they had a raucous speakeasy in the basement.
Today, Chef Nick Tall has created an approachable menu of California fare that nourishes and delights at The Purple Palm. We source from local and organic farms to bring you the best of what’s fresh and in season year-round. Our cocktail list pays homage to the rebel spirit of the restaurant’s beginnings with classic libations and a sense of humor.
