I love this library! Everyone who works there is so nice and helpful! They also keep everything organized and clean. As a former librarian, I have pretty high expectations and this place exceeds them! Keep up the great work!
In 2015: I stopped going to this library because I was told I had overdue fees. I paid these fees not once but twice as I came in a second time and still told it wasn't paid. After that said I wasn't coming back. Anyway, I did came back two weeks ago to check out a book and that's when I found out the dues are still on there. Even though, there used to be a fines forgiveness once a year IF that had been the case. I decided to visit the library and just read the book there. As it turned out, it was a blessing for me. I found my book, Where the Crawdads sing and a cozy spot in the children's section and a nice granny sized rocking chair. Almost every day for the last two weeks I came in during times many people are not there hoping to secure the chair and refreshing air conditioning.. and read my book. So today I found my little treasure and the skinny white lady with long white blonde hair comes over and I smiled and told her how happy I was with my book and this rocker and quiet area. She quickly says, well, we are moving that rocker today somewhere else.. then adds that this is the children's section and they are trying to keep it that way. Then she proceeded to arrange children's books pretty close to me making noise clanking books and talking to herself. It felt annoying and by then I couldn't concentrate. I'm sure there's camera footage, just saying. Finally she left the area and I started reading a few more chapters. Then she comes back again and says "they" been talking and decided to move the chair right then and there. She stated again I could sit in the adult section as this area was for children and parents. Really?! So I told her I was upset and felt she was profiling me. I asked her if in fact that she was telling me I couldn't be in this section regardless if they moved the chair. I told her I raised my sister's 5 children as a single mother, worked with children in Sunday school, vacation bible school and had a puppet ministry at one time. I told her my feelings were hurt and that I wanted to talk to the boss. She started stammering and back tracking and saying that I could sit there.. in a different chair. She stated children could get hurt on the rocking chair.. how many nurseries have rockers? Just saying.. I also noticed a teen-adult section that had a new miniature sofa lay out.. not sure why that's over there unless that's the children's section too? The library is and has been for years a warm sanctuary for everyone young and old. A place for meetings, support, computer helps, social services online, entertainment for children and teens and a quiet place for adults enjoying the air conditioning and comfortable furniture. I just don't understand.. So if an adult wanted to read childrens books in the children's section...is wrong? I mean if the place has been occupied by a group of kids ect I would have clearly been understanding and respectful to moving to another area . How hurtful that we live in an age where adults are scrutinized and or judged by appearance. How devastating. I talked to two other employees who must have had to hear this conversation and I was directed by them to call Stella when she comes in and I will. I hope they or she thinks about this and handles people in the future more kindly and thoughtfully. I noticed the sign outside near my handicapped spot that says "Safe Place". I hope that means everybody. Broken heart
What a difference a day makes. Came here on a Friday. Was pretty nice, they had jazz piano music going. Overall positive environment. Came in on Saturday. No one is here except for 2 hispanic female employees. One of them gives me a dirty look as a I walk in. The entire time I'm tere, they're talking loudly and carrying on non-stop. Not conducive to learning or working. Once the weekday boss is gone, these diversity leeches will simply show up and not do their jobs on weekends. And this disabled veteran doesn't appreciate it. Also would probably make your library more ADA accessible if you put a "push" sign on your front door to the lobby. Not that you care though. Right? You're ticking all your inclusion boxes for the protected categories, save for mine. Now they're speaking Spanish loudly and won't be quiet. You want to know why America's getting dumber? Stop giving these jobs away to people who are absolutely education-averse and despise people who like to learn, read, and write. Some of us write for a living.
Made our first visit to our library yesterday. We were pleasantly surprised to see how nicely set up it is. We got our library cards first, then went off to find some books. Plenty of selections and the workers are so friendly. This will definitely be a regular trip.
Lovely Library and SO grateful for the free computer/ internet service for when I need to print out documents/ forms/or mailing labels. I was disappointed that the library wasn't open on Saturday afternoons even though on Google maps they said it was open till 6pm. As I work during the week and sometimes on Saturday mornings, it can make it difficult for me to get there. I've edited the closing time on Google maps to 13:00 hrs for future visitors. I hope it works!
Great people always helpful and polite
I go to this library almost every Friday after I volunteer walking dogs. There is a limit of 5 non paper book items like books on CDs, videos, & playaways audio books so I have a rapid turnover of those items. I look through the new books section for favorite authors or non-fiction topics. The friendly helpful staff makes it enjoyable. It is a quiet safe place to read newspapers & magazines. They have interlibrary loans for requested books not on the shelves. It's in a convenient location with plenty of easy parking. It has changing art exhibits & various activities for children. Computers, wifi & internet use are popular & easy to use. It is currentlyly open until 6 pm Monday through Friday but call first because hours changed recently & COVID could affect them again.
Love the place nice and quiet and I enjoyed my time there but the library lady was a little rude she didn't want to help me look for books for trains for my client so the second time i come to the library and had my kids in nieces and nephew with me a old man come over to the table where the kids where at and told them to be quiet there in a library know they are kids smh i really dont think im coming back
Friendly and competent staff. Good number and variety of resources for this size of a community.
It's a nice clean library. My only issue is you can't download to print items, otherwise it's all good!
