Our Values, What We Believe In and How We Behave
Financially Frugal and Accountable: We pride ourselves on running a great fire department at a
very low cost. We are accountable for all of our spending, and often volunteer our labor for
construction or maintenance projects.
History/Culture: We commit to carry forward the vision of the founders of the department by
researching, remembering and respecting the department’s past.
Leadership: We are positive leaders and stewards of fire safety and protection both in our
community and in our region. We regularly work on volunteer recruiting and retention programs.
Family & Friends: We highly value our family and friends, and include them in our non-emergency
activities when appropriate.
Dedication: We are dedicated and prepared to respond day and night. Volunteer Fire Departments
require many hours of service. We spend much additional time training, maintaining equipment and
facilities, and participating in meetings, fund-raising events and community events.
Safe and Effective Emergency Responses: We make safety a top priority, both at emergencies
and in training. We write grants and find donations or funds to make sure we have appropriate
equipment, including the proper personal protective equipment.
Community Services: We volunteer because it is OUR community. The community supports our
efforts by generously providing funding and support.
Teamwork & Camaraderie: We work together in many aspects of running the department. We
believe in having fun when appropriate, and in maintaining a spirit of good fellowship.
Loyalty, Respect & Courtesy: We respect each other and those that we serve, being nice and
courteous at all times. We are loyal to each other, and the vision, mission, and values of our group.
Integrity, Ethics & Confidentiality: We behave in a highly ethical manner, maintaining
confidentiality and professional integrity.
Knowledgeable & Resourceful: We maintain awareness of the current best practices in our
industry and take advantage of the many resources available to us to help succeed.
Abundant & Effective Training: We train weekly, and provide high quality training in EMS, Fire,
Rescue, and Haz Mat response. We are each accountable to be well trained in our roles.
