Most people can count on one hand the teachers that have had a lifelong impact on them.
Rabbi Aron Sternberg was just such a man.
The Library
The library will house a cadre of Seforim as well as access to recorded Torah speeches which can be downloaded. The plans include ample space to study Torah in a serene environment, and those who choose to avail themselves of this special experience, will have the ability to do so, round the clock, every day of the year.
Rabbi Sternberg taught at the North Shore Hebrew Academy from 1967-2003. As an alumnus of NSHA, I fondly remember Rabbi Sternberg's calm and caring demeanor.
He served as a true spiritual role model for me and my fellow students. He taught us what I would consider to be the essentials of Judaism, how to pray, how to put on Tefillin and how to read the Torah.
As a child, I remember that he seemed to be seven feet tall. I remember his deep voice and soothing Swiss accent. He was a man that I did not want to disappoint. He was calm, stern at times and always fair. His sincere smile, love and enthusiasm for teaching was apparent every day.
He devoted his entire life exclusively, to educating us. And though he came from a very deeply religious and different background from our own, he was able to capture our attention and imbue us with his love for Yiddishkeit. His sterling character and his commitment to Jewish education was exemplary.
This lifelong gift is one that can never be fully repaid. Rabbi Sternberg had unique attributes which he was able to successfully impart to a generation of students. Although he is no longer with us, his memory and teachings remain as a living legacy that persist from generation to generation.
In tribute to this great man and legendary teacher, The Rabbi Aron Zev Sternberg Memorial Library is currently under construction, dedicated to his sacred memory.

How fitting, that the memory of Rabbi Sternberg, who personified Torah and Tefila, should be perpetuated with a beautiful edifice and library which will continuously serve to elevate his Neshama.
