Neat place, the location alone is worth checking out. Definitely have a decent selection, though some of the prices seemed on the high side. Most records had been researched though, so I appreciate that. Left with a few rare records including a bootleg Jethro Tull and a Steely Dan import EP. Go follow Alice down the Rabbit Hole!
First time at Rabbit Hole Records and also new to vinyl. I was overwhelmed by the incredible selection that they had. This was not a box on the floor of a second hand store marked 3 for $10. This wasn't even the CD Warehouse down the road with some hidden diamonds in a lot of rough. This place is one flip of the finger after another of incredible album cover after album cover. As mentioned in a previous review, all of the albums seemed to be well researched and a little overpriced. Another customer had an aside with me about how he had found their prices to be a bit high compared to two places in PGH But because of how novel this all is for me, I don't mind a couple extra dollars to not sift through junk and see a lot of rarer albums in one place. It seemed like a good place to learn what these cuts that I can't afford look and feel like. I found one in particular that I was excited about. Led Zeppelin's In Through the Out Door. It was marked 1979 US Monarch Press VG/VG. I purchased it and took it home. Once again I've only collected records for a week, but it took me five minutes of research to see that it was a Presswell pressing and not a Monarch. So I would assume that anyone who buys and sells records saw that it was too and marked it Monarch instead of Presswell because monarch is more sought after and therefore more valuable. And this brand new collector fell for it. Of course I should have checked but at the time wouldn't have caught it anyway. I was relying on the person curating the store to be honest. Or informative about the pressing they have. I would just say buyer beware. Because there is really cool stuff in there. Make sure you know what you are looking for on the record that makes it cool. Because I found out the hard way that Rabbit Hole Records can't be trusted to label what they have honestly. Or if it's not dishonesty than it's incompetence. Either way it was really disappointing and disheartening for a new collector excited to check out a new place. I'll be back. But with a magnifying glass and discogs pulled up on my phone And I would recommend you do too.
Stopped in for the first time a few weeks ago. I like the location, it's a neat little place. Guy working there was unfriendly, unhelpful, and played on his phone the entire time. I thought maybe he was just having a bad day, so I stopped back with some friends to give them another chance. Unfortunately we had the same experience that I had the first time. We each found a record or 2 that we were interested in, but ultimately we left with nothing and purchased our records at another store. I wanted so badly to have a good experience here, but it wasn't to be.
Prices are far too high and there’s a limited selection. Employees are unfriendly and not very knowledgeable and act like anything but sitting is a mild inconvenience to them. I’m not sure who the target audience is, I suppose if you want to pay extra to virtue signal that you buy “local”, this is the place for you! 2 stars simply for existing and I suppose the atmosphere is nice to check out once and then never again due to the ridiculous prices. Either go to Discogs or down the street to CD Warehouse.
Nice to see an independent record store however I agree with other reviewers on here... staff was rude and barely greeted myself and another, did not offer to help and basically ignored us. Prices were very high compared to a dozen other record shops from Pittsburgh, Columbus, and State College I visit on a regular basis. Sorry can't recommend.
Small but excellently stocked with a good selection of funk, pop, rock, soul, metal and others. Prices and grades reflect research, so don’t go expecting a steal, but do go expecting to cross some “hard-to-find”s off your list.
Great store! The selection isn’t huge, but you’re guaranteed to find one of those uncommon gems. Just a nice, chill spot with a listening station and friendly staff! Prices aren’t terrible either.
The one worker sits in the corner on his phone and ignores everyone, doesn’t offer to help, doesn’t greet anyone. Entrance was filled with cigarette butts from him. Extremely awkward going in there, definitely feel like a nuisance to him. Place has a lot of potential but not with him
Stopped by for a college visit and grabbed a coffee and biscuit here. Great place. Great food and service. Atmosphere was very casual laid back. Spaced out seating for covid concerns too .
Great selection and they always have rare records circulating through
