Hi! Welcome to Ember's Rainbow Rings!
My name is Ember and I am originally from California, but moved recently to the Oregon coast where I have begun setting up business both online and in a physical shop in Coos Bay Oregon.
My love of chain maille began when I was very young. I have always been a fantasy lover, and chain maille is one of those things that simply went hand in hand with everything else of that genre. When I was older, I started attending Renaissance Faires, first as a patron, and later as a volunteer. In that environment, you run into a lot of people who make and sell chain maille, usually of the armor variety, but often jewelry also. I always thought it looked difficult, but like a lot of fun, but never had the opportunity to try it.
Then one day, at Joannes Fabrics, I found out that they had chain maille rings on clearance. "Great!" I thought, "Now is my chance." So I bought a bunch and began to play with them. From there I looked online to find more variety, and when I bought my first rings online, I realized that the rings at Joannes had been of terrible quality, which was why they were on sale, I'm sure. Regardless, I had a good sized set of rings to play with, and from there I ran with it and haven't really put it down since.
One of the things that I find unique about the pieces that I make, as opposed to so many other wonderful chain maille crafters out there, are the colors. I love color, I always have. And I absolutely love making super shiny, colorful pieces of jewelry that stand out from everything else around them! Of course, since I do make custom pieces, I have no problems making pieces with more muted colors, like more silver and black with splashes of color. I just personally have more fun with bright, Rainbow colors: which is where the business got its name.
As for my inspiration, I pull much of that from the interests and personal identities of my close friends. I make many Pride themed pieces for a large variety of sexual orientations and gender identities. I also make pieces with symbols or themes from various religions. I draw inspiration for a lot of my work from nature and the world around us. And of course, my personal favorite, I make many pieces that are Fandom based, such as Harry Potter, My Little Pony, and the Avengers to name just a few. I am ALWAYS looking for new places to draw inspiration from, so if you have an idea even as simple as a theme that you would like to see done, or a Fandom you would like represented, let me know. I would love to work with you to build you a custom, unique piece of your very own!
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to message me. Please understand though, I am just one person. I do not have a crew of people working for me, and I do have (unfortunately) another job outside of my jewelry. I will respond to any messages with every bit of speed that I can, but in busy times I may not be as quick as I might like. Thank you so much for your understanding and happy shopping!
