Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP) is located in western South Dakota near the beautiful Black Hills, home to Mt Rushmore. Rapid City is the business and cultural center of a five-state region contributing to high employment rates, a strong and resilient economy, and ready access to services, shopping and entertainment. Rapid City Regional Airport is vital to the region – providing jobs, easy access to air transportation for passengers and cargo, and a gateway for the well-developed tourism industry, RAP contributes approximately $175 million annually to the local economy. RAP is a non-hub primary commercial service airport, with approximately 275,000 enplanements per year, and is owned and operated by the City of Rapid City. A five-member board, appointed by the mayor, provides strategic guidance and oversight while the 30 full-time employees provide daily management, operations, and maintenance of the airport.
