To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.
Nonprofit Capacity Building
----------------------------------------------------------------------
RUW strives to be a center for collaboration and networking among areas service providers, hosting monthly information share meetings about various topics. We also host nonprofit trainings and workshops to strengthen the health and human service providers in our area.
Volunteer Center
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are the Volunteer Center for the Fredericksburg area and work throughout the year to match volunteers in our community with both long-term and one time volunteer projects and activities.
Community Investment
----------------------------------------------------------------------
RUW invests dollars raised through the Annual, Local Government, and Combined Federal Campaigns in local programs impacting Education, Income, and Health. These programs have been reviewed by community volunteers who ensure that the programs are making lasting changes and improving lives.
Financial Stability
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We help hard-working, low-to moderate income individuals and families receive the tax refunds they deserve for free. RUW also organizes Financial Freedom events, facilitating workshops by trained professionals on credit counseling, money management, and more.
Advocacy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
RUW advocates on behalf of 2-1-1 Virginia, a 24-hour statewide helpline that directs individuals to the services they need in their locality. We share FamilyWize discount prescription cards to ensure individuals get the prescriptions they need to stay healthy at a lower price. RUW advocates on behalf of early childhood education as well.
