Rattan Pan-Asian Bistro & Wine Bar
FRESH, CONTEMPORARY, PACIFIC STYLE
Contemporary Asian cuisine….a dynamic, approachable wine list….attentive, knowledgeable service….a smart, comfortable dining room that welcomes business men and women as easily as it does a date night. This is Rattan Bistro and Wine Bar.
Rattan Bistro’s menu includes a spectrum of Pan Asian cuisines from Japan to Thailand, Malaysia and China, and uses fresh, high quality ingredients like Akaushi beef and sushi grade fish. Staffed with cooks who have lived and traveled throughout Asia and overseen by owner Ron Chen, Rattan Bistro offers guests an “inner loop” dining experience in the heart of West Houston’s energy corridor.
Get rid of Inspiration, replace with Design [I would put this after Wine Bar and before Party Room]
Designed by well-respected Houston architect Palmer Schooley, Rattan Bistro is warm and comfortable with contemporary touches. A tropical palate of teal blue, golden yellow and tangerine flows throughout three dining areas – the main dining room, punctuated with roomy, high back booths and stained white oak panels; the bar and lounge area with high boy tables for casual dining and an intimate bar area; and the Rattan Sun Room with its floor-to-ceiling windows that can be closed off for business lunches and private events – plus a covered, bamboo-enclosed patio for outdoor dining. The main dining area peeks into a partially open kitchen and is open to the contemporary bar for a vibrant atmosphere.
Wine Bar & List
The wine list, hand chosen by owner Ron Chen, includes an interesting selection of about 150 bottles from the Old and New World, with a focus on California and French wines; the list is always changing, but showcases Chen’s love for deeply flavored California Cabernet Sauvignon and French Bordeaux. About two thirds of the list is value-priced under $50, and there is a reserve list available upon request for those in a celebrating mood or looking for a special bottle.
Chen has also organized 14 Wine Flights for adventurous palates to sample and enjoy, with fun thematic names like “Badass Cab Flight,” “The Juicy White Couture Flight,” the “Mysterious Old World Flight” and the “Bang for your Buck Flight.”
The sleek, intimate bar at Rattan features a top-of-the-line stainless and glass Enomatic™ system which efficiently preserves each open bottle, enabling the restaurant to feature a dynamic selection of 40 wines by the glass.
Party Room
With floor-to-ceiling windows and a beautiful wall of Texas Ledgestone, the warm, airy space seats 40 comfortably or ___ for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. It can also be set for a business presentation and lunch/dinner. With French doors that close the Sun Room off from the rest of the restaurant, your guests can enjoy complete privacy, delicious food and wines with attentive service.
