We stopped here while we were out of town and it was a pretty good store! The person working there at the time, Houston, went above and beyond to help me and my disabled mother while we were here, and was pleasant and helpful the whole time. Probably the best experience I've ever had in a grocery store, which isn't something I thought I'd ever say, haha.
It's a bit expensive but the convenience of having the ACE hardware in with Ray's Food Place is worth it, if you live nearby.
i had decided to go into Ray’s Food place to look around as I’m a stay at home mom who doesn’t get out much an I was already out. When inside, I decided that breaking a 100 bill on a crocodile pen a candy was a dumb idea so I left. While walking out, I heard a “excuse me, can I help you”. And my heart sank because I knew I was being called a thief, and being profiled in that moment. I hand over my bag eagerly as I know I didn’t do anything wrong. An declined to even look in it. An left. Anywho- I would be lying if I said I didn’t walk home crying. I could feel their eyes on me the whole time. I just wanted to look around for fun and got profiled. The irony? I have $500 in my wallet. I’ll probably go back as I understand that she has a job to do. An also given the fact that I dress like a broke high schooler an have many piercings. just makes me sad.
They only take in$ 2:40 that's two dollars and forty cents they said and this is the manager I spoke with she said they made a deal with bottle recycling place they would not take in a lot of bottles And cans. Now I have to ask you why can't they take all of them at once her answer was it takes away from the recycling place.. Sorry I call bull xcsffd on this. That's why I will not buy no sodas from rays because we have a right to take them to the store where we paid for it right
One star due to the fact that everytime I come here for a money order it is a huge problem for them and they are not friendly. I just stood there waiting for over 30 mins while Dean finished his online order before helping me get 1 money order. And the best part is when they did help me after waiting all that time they couldn't sell me a money order because they had exceeded the limit for the day.
My experiences with Ray's have generally been positive. On Friday July 8th I purchased BBQ spareribs from the grill out front if tge store. I have purchased ribs before and been satisfied! This time I was mortified. The ribs were hughe, they looked as though the had ben dyed with red food coloring! They must have come off of a 100 lb bore or sow. They we way undercooked. They tasted gamey. I am almost sure they were Imported from China. They were absolutely awfull. I hope that Ray's will make good by the bad ribs. They sold for $15.99. I certainly will not purchase ribs again, as to sell thise is unconscionable.
We recently moved to Central Point and live within walking distance to Ray's. I can always find what I need and the staff are always friendly. The hardware section has just about everything you need for home repairs and the rest of the store seems well stocked and cared for. After having lived in downtown Portland, the prices are not out of line and I am finding the quality much better. The produce is superb and the meats always look fresh. For quick food, the deli/bakery always has something for you. Great store!
This store is located in small rural areas for the most part. The prices are a little more than what you would expect to see at a Walmart obviously. I had previously stated this store is too expensive with not a wide selection. I have come to realize this isn't a correct observation. This store does have quite a large selection and makes it available to people within small communities and provides a real family oriented experience with great customer service
Ray's Food place in Central Point Oregon is a great place to shop locally. This particular store has some pretty decent groceries, the meat department, and they even have like an Ace hardware on one side of the store, very convenient! The checkers and employees are all pretty nice and efficient. Next time you're in the area, come say hey to Ray's!
They are way too expensive. Even more than say Whole Foods which I wish we had in Medford. They also advertise prices, but then they ring up full price. So you better be paying attention. The last two times I was there, they charged full price for items with sale tags. I got charged $12.99 for a $5.99 jar of garlic which is still too high. I showed someone the tag saying it was $5.99 and got my money back, but I don't feel I need to correct the prices every time I go in. They only reason I go there is if I need a few things and I'm too lazy to drive to Albertsons. I have no idea how they stay in business. They are hardly ever busy. Makes literally no sense.
