Ate here for our traditional first day of school at Ray’s Drive In. The burgers were very good, we had ordered a triple cheese, double cheese, single cheese, chicken strips, fries, and shakes. All was good and fresh. They can mix any of the shake clovers too so that’s what we did, grabbed a chocolate and peanut butter shake which was very good. We usually always eat there for this first day tradition so we ate at their outdoor tables. Not the nicest area and close to the garbage. Wish they could spruce this outdoor eating area up. This is the locally-owned burger stand all the locals go to and everyone loves. No frills, just great burgers and terrific service. Try a chocolate+ milkshake and don't forget to upgrade your burger with !Food: 5/5
Rays is always good. Haven't been there in a couple years but I recently went back and I liked it. Definitely pretty expensive though to be honest. 3 adults and a child ate with us and it was $31 without a tip. At about 5 bucks for a burger that is average sized at best, and a few bucks for a rather tiny fry - it comes out to be around $10 per person without a drink. I would still recommend Rays though because it's a Grand Haven staple - a classic.
I grew up around Rays, and long for their fries. Unfortunately the economic times the burgers don't seem nearly as beefy as they once where and the shakes have gotten smaller. It's disappointing, especially with the burgers. Also the bussiness seems a little dead. Still I give them 5 stars because I got to somewhat relive a childhood memories with my daughter. Priceless.
First time visit a few years back in 2017 & we went to rays for a bite to eat. Got a cheeseburger with the crinkle fries & a marshmallow shake. It’s been years later & I still find myself craving that burger & shake! While the actual store is kind of small & was a little crowded with not much of a wait area it was so worth it in the end as the food was so good & we even went back for more the next day. Loved this little local place & the atmosphere was so cute. Hope to come back again for another trip.
Sadly It isn't the same ray's we used to have! Was in today, 2 burgers 2 fries was $24 + $5 tip, waited 30min for my food, the employees are just slower than molasses, could only get out 1 burger at a time every 10min or so, the fries are burnt, and I'd question some of the sanitary procedures at watching the curly haired kid pick his ear the grab fries and make a shake, the go sweep a dirty counter off all of the cups and stuff on counter.. lastly they use different patties for the burgers now and they taste like cardboard trash! Will not be back and if I could of took my tip back I would of, pretty disappointed with this place now days. My last visit wasn't much better sadly.
The burgers are fine, nothing to write home about. In fact, I thought they were a bit bland, but the prices are more than reasonable. That said, the coconut shake is fantastic. I would go back just for that.
The food is amazing as a diner, the service is very good, if a little slow, but that might have been that I got raided by a tennis team when I arrived, the only problem with the atmosphere is that it is outside, but the tables that are outside are nice.Food: 5/5
I’ve been going here since I was a wee little one thanks to my dad. The cheeseburgers are timeless and the crinkle cut fries are the best. Be sure to get a shake and head to the beach with your food! It tastes better with your toes in the sand and a sunset.Food: 5/5
Stopped out there while I was working the other day. This was my first time at Ray’s, and certainly won’t be my last!! The girls that were working were super friendly, and made sure my food was hot and fresh! Everything was excellent. I will definitely be back!
