Really love this place. Nice Beach. Nice path to walk around the lake. Beautiful spillway. Nice concession stand. Volleyball net and play gym for the kids on the beach. Park has hiking trails all over. A really nice place to bring your family for some R&R.
This is a beautiful park with great hiking, even in the winter. We hiked the overlook trail starting across the street from the beach parking lot. Expect a lot of switchbacks and a rocky trail. But the way up the mountain is beautiful and hosts several ferns, moss and low shrubs that stay green through the winter. The view at the top is an overlook of the valley and surrounding mountains. You can continue on the overlook trail by going down the road a few hundred feet from the overlook. In the winter, the snow-covered path is gorgeous. We also hiked the nature trail to the beach. It is an easy hike and well worth it as you go under a thick canopy of pine trees. It opens to the lake and beach. Even in the winter, the spring at the end of the trail is bubbling in the sand. We cannot wait to return to explore more trails! Adding to this to share more about the beach. The sand is perfect, soft sand. The park keeps the beach clean and takes the sand. Because the lake is spring fed, it is VERY cold. If you want an experience of just going to the beach to wade in the water and feel the sand, this is a perfect beach. But if you hope to spend a long time in the water, you may find it too cold. The beach concession has good food. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, fish sandwich, etc. It also has the typical beach concession goodies like ice cream. Each time I come to this park, I love it more and more. When you visit the beach…be sure to make a quick drive up to the vista! Restrooms: Clean. Restrooms at the beach are very clean. Picnic area: Plenty of places to sit for a picnic.
Had a great time solo camping at RB Winter State Park. The site was small but comfortable for my pop up. No cell service in the park. Nearest town is Mifflinburg about 15 - 20 minutes away. Note, there is only one restroom with showers. I think there are 60 some camping sites in the park. There is honor system firewood kiosk. No ice station. No camp store, but there is a snack bar at the lake.
The park was very nice they had a huge playground and even concession stand. However, with all the rain lately the lake was gross, there was all types of nasty things floating in the water, even someone's cigar butt yuck! not sure if this is usual but I definitely wanted to rinse off especially my 2yr old daughter. I felt like the water should have been much cleaner but was very brackish. Bathrooms were clean for the most part, and besides the water it was nice to get out to a state park for the 4th!
It's a nice little state park. We went on a week day and it was not crowded. Folks were picnicking, swimming, hiking, walking dogs. Beach area and restrooms were clean and well maintained. Totally recommend for a day out. One caveat - swimming area is spring fed so it will be cold. Restrooms: Very clean.
Nice campground. For the trailers, need better access to the dump station. The lake and trails are good and the staff are friendly. Camp host lady could be a bit more friendly. Otherwise I would rate higher. Restrooms: Need more hanging hooks.
We had a nice time at the beach here. The water was a little cold but not too bad at the beginning of August. We had some ice cream treats at the snack shop cash only here!. Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy any of the hiking trails but maybe another time!
Really enjoy this park. Great family atmosphere, picnic tables, hiking trails, and camping facilities. We stayed in one of the cottages this trip and I was happily surprised how comfortable the mattress was. I got a great night's sleep! It was also a great spot to take off on scenic motorcycle rides!
A beautiful state park. We have been here a few times and have even camped. Today we chose mountain biking. Lots of gravel and fire roads. Some single tracks. There are a ton more trails we did not get to and will return!
Wonderful fairly large campground. Lots to do. Had a blast fishing. Lots of great hiking for next time. The camp was extremely clean and bathrooms were cleaned daily if not more than once. Very quiet even though the camp ground was almost at full capacity. Very impressive. Playground: Nice size and plenty of decent kiddos Restrooms: Very, very clean and well stocked. Dog-friendliness: Certain point in the camp ground where no pets beyond that point to accommodate those with pets and those put off by pets Picnic area: Lots of great places to picnic
