A mental health awareness club that aims to provide York University students with an avenue to cope with stress.
Reach Out is an undergraduate student-led organization, which fosters a diverse and inclusive environment, with a mandate to reduce the stigma associated with mental health by raising awareness about the various mental health issues faced by undergraduate students. Reach Out provides the necessary resources for students to overcome and cope with the added day-to-day stresses that come with being a student.
Students often neglect their own mental health, and are faced with a variety of pressures and responsibilities both on- and off-campus, making self-care seem relatively unimportant. When they do take it seriously, many students are not met with support, but instead may face judgement and discrimination. Reach Out prioritizes self-care, openness, and inclusivity, and aims to spread knowledge, and in turn, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
