I might’ve given this place three stars for being incredibly average. However, after my interaction with the owner/manager a stout, surly “gentleman” with wavy, gray hair, a one-star review seems more than generous. The office closes its doors at 4 pm, early by most standards. I was directed to the evening manager’s house/trailer a few steps away and was greeted by Brian, a pleasant man deserving of five stars. He gave me the lowdown and the lay of the land sent me to my space. After parking and attempting to hook-up, 50A service was unavailable it was later determined due to bad outlet. Brian & Co. attempted to get it remedied that evening to no avail and I was asked if I would rather move or run my generator and use my batteries for the one night. I opted for the latter as it was already dark and I’m not a fan of backing my 45’+ 5th wheel in the dark unless necessary. I went to the office the next morning and told the three ladies working there of my situation and they assured me the issue would be fixed that morning—it was. I told them that I’d had to run my generator for several hours to charge my batteries to last the evening. They told me, that since I’d contracted for FHU Full Hook Ups, to take my propane tank to the shed and have it filled and that they would credit me for the propane I used. They, too, gave 5-star service. I dropped my propane tank off at the shed on Wednesday. When I went to pick it up on Thursday, it appeared not to be filled so I went into the shed and asked the surly man see paragraph one about the status of my tank. He seemed out of sorts that I was in his work area and told me the tank had been filled. I asked him where the fill receipt was and he told me the wind must’ve blown it off. I told him I needed the receipt in order to be reimbursed for the propane. That’s when the firestorm started that led to the lack of stars in the review. He went on a tirade about how "that’s not how he does things" and “who authorized that?” and so on and so forth. He asked me which person had authorized my “free propane.” I responded with, “I don’t know. There are three women in the office.” To which he barked, “I know how many women work there!” I pivoted and walked away not wanted to be the further target of his ire, returned with my truck and picked up my tank. When I weighed it back at the trailer, they had failed to even refill the tank. The entire episode was a domino-effect of disappointment and frustration. Not only will I never stay here again, I will advise everyone with whom I come in contact to avoid this Shakespearean tragedy of RV parks. The “Recreation Plantation” is more of a group of local settlers ruled by the iron fist of the heavy-set man with the gray hair. It seems to me that if you’re not one of his flock, you are nothing more than an annoyance. NOT RECOMMENDED.
My husband and I are staying here for the first time. The people are wonderful. The activities are bountiful, and the sites for your rv are nice size and basically level. We are close to great restaurants and shopping. Traveling to the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf is only over an hour either way. We really enjoy the winter place.Location: 4/5
TV service is no any longer provided. You are on your own there. That means the Free Modem Internet, provided, is so over used and busy during early morning and evenings, with so many people 'trying' to stream TV, that it is almost impossible to actually stream and watch TV during the mornings and evenings. Buffering is what you get. That is a bummer. Otherwise, the park is old, but very well run, and staff are very good. Two Swimming pools are well maintnained, as is the whole park. LOTS of activities here - LOTS! Best pickleball courts and people ever. Rec Plantation is located Right next to The Villages, which has an abundance of great restaurants and shopping, Bands & dancing 5PM to 9PM, 365 days a year, at four outdoor locations known as "The Squares" in The Villages. You are welcome and it's free. The whole area is VERY busy during the winter months, just like most of Florida. Activities are amazing - except TV.
My parents rented a camper for the season. I am visiting for 9 days. Nice little park. Very friendly people. Attentive staff. New Big pool opened last week. 2nd time visiting. Would recommend to others Nearby activities: Close by to shopping, entertainment, movie theaters dancing and an endless number of restaurants.
I agree with some of the other reviews, regarding the customer service at this park. We’ve actually stayed at this park a couple times but have had unpleasant experiences with one of the ladies in the office. One lady is not very accommodating or helpful. The sites are on grass, or dirt, and if you ask for a site, in the newer section, with better grass, she will not give it to you, even when there were plenty open at the time. This does not make you want to return to this park. There are other parks in the area with better customer service. However, they do have a very nice pool and nice activity rooms.
Stayed here for a week. Great place, nice people and huge dog park! Reasonable rates.
Everybody is so wonderful and it's such a beautiful safe placeRooms: 5/5
Very nice RV resort. We are here for 5 weeks. Lots of seasonals but all are very friendly and kind. Office staff and property manager are exceptional. We see maintenance folks out working all day. Landscaping and paving are immaculate. Highly recommend.
We have relatives who have stayed at this RV park for three or four years, and now own a park model there. They have been wanting us to come for a winter season. I called to see if I could reserve a spot for six months starting in October or November 2022. The lady was not pleasant at all to talk to. She indicated the only thing they had was the lot and a half spaces left. I would pay the four month rate and then two additional months. This totaled over $8,000. I called back after finding out, another way, there was a spot, but I would need to move during February to another spot. I was fine with that. When I spoke to the lady again she was down right rude. I asked her what the 6 month plus six was. She thought I should already know. When I said that I didn't, she asked me "then how do you know you want that?" I asked her to please explain it to me. She finally indicated it was six months at the park, and six months gone. she did not tell me the second six months was storage of the RV. I had indicated at the beginning we were full time RV'ers. I tried to reserve the six plus six, not knowing the second half was storage. She said I could not reserve it over the phone, and I would have to come there to do it. I told her I did not want to pull my fifth wheel halfway across the country on the hope there would be a spot, so I declined. Unfortunately the owners are not usually in the office for the day to day operations, so there was nobody else I knew of to talk sensibly to. We are now trying to find out if someone in the park owns a lot that they would rent us. I do not want to call back and talk to the same rude person, who basically represents the park to anyone that calls. I will likely have to, either not go to that area, or find another park close by.
We have been coming here since 2012. We stay over 5 months through the winter. Yes we are snowbirds, but have been coming to this area since 1996. Lots of activities & entertainment. Three clubhouses, 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, shuffleboard, bocce ball, horseshoes, tennis courts, pickleball courts, beach volleyball, exchange library. Over 1000 RV sites. Most are park models. Neighbors are great.
