Creating custom hand made rustic and western furniture since 1995!
Dean Storey was swinging a hammer and cutting boards since he can remember. Summers in his school days were spent fixing-up old ranch houses in west Texas. Intrigued with the affects of "Mother Nature" on these old houses and things around the house... iron, stone, wood, glass, just everything showed the marks of time and the elements.
From those days grew an appreciation for all things old, especially furniture. Whether an old table that showed a hard life or a fine Victorian piece, they all got a good once over.
In 1983 he began a full-time woodworking career. After three years of doing cabinets he started to make free standing furniture. In 1993 Dean began harvesting trees and sawing his own lumber. Now working with mesquite, walnut, cypress, cedar-elm, chinaberry, mulberry, oak... just about any tree will work, he is able to do what he refers to as "Ice cream", when I can make the entire piece from the same tree.
Dean says, "What else could I have done, to have the opportunity to build a queen-size daybed, so Grandma could pile on all the grand kids and plug in a DVD. What a grand idea! I've always said the best part of what I do is the people I get to do it for."
