I did not look my best when I walked into this lovely cafe, so I can see why the cashier was definitely not excited to wait on me. She looked bored, resting her face on one hand, leaning on the counter, maybe waiting for Adele to pop in asking for a large smoothie in a medium cup. But the place had something vegan on the menu so I got the avocado toast, and my boyfriend had the Jalapeño Cheddar bagel. They were both really tasty! Maybe I'm not hip, but I did not know avocado toast had strawberries on it. I was expecting a savory taste and instead got slightly sweet and savory, a great combination. The place was very cute, I liked the metalwork and the design, the colors, all really well put together. The cashier was all alone, but she didn't make us wait longer than normal for our order. The machine that grinds the smoothies was incredibly loud, they really need to do something about that, though. And the floor where we were sitting sloped on a decided angle, our table was very crooked. I'm sensitive to sloped floors as walking on them actually makes me seasick! Good god. Wouldn't that have been terrible if I threw up in there, walking across the angled floor, with my bedraggled hair and bad makeup job, people would have gotten the wrong impression that the food was responsible when in reality it's my screwed up inner ears!
This review is for the espresso. I was hoping for some decent espresso close to the hotel and this place had something of the young, hip vibe from the outside. The ambiance itself was nice and the person who helped me was very friendly, but that was not a proper espresso they gave me. It tasted more like a moka -- thin, a little burnt. Just completely the wrong consistency. I also got some yogurt and the fruit was really fresh and tasty, so maybe go for food but skip the espresso.
This is a great little cafe in downtown Milwaukee. Still unknown so not many people visit here, which is great for getting work done. I spent an entire morning working on a project for a client and was never bothered. The coffee is very good overall. It wasn't burnt like Starbucks frequently is nor was it bitter like Colectivo is on occasion. The flavor was bold, but not overwhelming.
Incredible food and drinks. I got the mini bagels and a Nutella latte. Staff was friendly, atmosphere quiet and chill. Better than Starbucks by a lot, although the food prices were slightly higher than a typical cafe. Overall nice place, I'll be back
Quiet little cafe in the heart of cathedral square. It's VERY quiet on the weekends, great for studying/working. The coffee is pretty good, but there are other cafes in the area that have better. The only thing that is very frustrating is the hours are inconsistent. Online it says they're open between 8:00-1:00 on Saturdays and I have gone by two different weekends when that has not been the case I have also asked for the hours in person and they tell me they should be open then.
This was my first time at Red June Cafe. It's a culet little place. The chai that I got was pretty milky for my taste, but the sweet toast was very tasty. Service was great. The barista made sure that everyone knew that she had noticed them as they walked in, and took their orders promptly. I will be going again.
This place is super cute! Only one woman behind the counter when I visited so you may need to wait to order and get your meal but the coffee was great and the avocado toast with strawberries too - worth the wait - and the cute and cozy feel make this place a winner in my books!
Red June is a great spot for some breakfast or lunch with ! I come here a the time when I'm working downtown. I've tried a lot of things in their menu and I've never been disappointed. It tastes like home!
I have enjoyed food here in the past but my last few experiences have been frustrating. The hours state that the cafe opens at 7 am M-F. On more than one occasion I have called to place an order to pick-up and I get no answer. Yesterday I went to order a toast that is made with avocados. Couldn't have it because there were no avocados. So, I tried calling ahead this morning. After a number of tries and no answer I go to the cafe and order the toast and the avocados they have are not ripe. I am on a specific diet and this cafe is the only place nearby that carries the foods that I can eat. So needless to say I am disappointed and hungry. However, the barista was very kind and the food is always delicious.
What such a cute and peaceful place to eat! Compared to big coffee shops, no wait lines, fast order, not that loud noise of the crowd. I would say, perfect for a Sunday morning, not busy, enjoyable.
