Wow! What an awesome workout and amazing views!! For the first 2 miles it was crazy climbing until about 7600' I'd say that was the hardest part - going clockwise, and I'm 5'8" 180lbs huffing and puffing and sweating a bunch, but then all of a sudden the climbing stopped and the most amazing vista opened up. From there, it was easy. Loved it!!
It is so Beautiful here. My 1st visit. Hubbys, Bro Leaf took us up. He lives in Colorado Springs. I love red clay dirt. Great exfoliate. Sorry about the background music. Hubby has a tiny speaker. And yes i clean up after Creed note green bags on me. Restrooms: 2 porta potties but they were clean. Dog-friendliness: Yes. Very. Please clean up after your pets.
Free nice place to walk. If you need easier walking once you pull in, drive all the way to the left as far as you can go. From here, there is a trail on the left that is very wide. Take that trail. It is easy walking with pretty surroundings. You can walk in and out or do many different loops. We did in and out as my daughter can't do the harder trails.
What a quiet and peaceful place to go for an easy hike, run, or walk with your dog. If you get there before 10 AM theres very few people. A hidden gem and seems like mostly locals and not flooded with tourists which was a nice break from the crowds. The walkways are easy but still very interesting. It's across the highway from garden of the gods so you have a view of that on your walk. It's located right off the highway so don't miss the turn like I did you can turn around and go back. A great place to have your morning coffee and go for a walk and enjoy the incredible views of the mountains.
Love this place! So many trails, the farther back you go the less other hikers you encounter. Very cool rock formations that you can explore. Definitely going back to explore more! With all the different loops you can choose your own adventure and how far you want to go. We ended up doing 5.5 miles! Parking: Two parking lots, lots of spots Restrooms: Don't plan to go to the bathroom here. Porta potty not well maintained and needing toilet paper.
This is a great park for hiking, and my wife and I come here often to hit the trails. From either of the parking lots, the main trail goes uphill and splits off into smaller trails. If you hike up far enough, one of the trails connects to the Section 16 trail, from which you can hike uphill to do the full circuit, or downhill to connect to the Bear Creek trails. Within Red Rock, you can do easy to medium difficulty hikes with distances of 2-4 miles. Recent improvements/rehabs to the main uphill trail are already yielding positive results. PROS: Convenient location to most of the Springs area. Nice trails for an easy-medium challenge. Beautiful views of Garden of the Gods and several scenic hills and mountains. The arid landscape has some pretty flora and fauna, especially in early summer. Additionally, great vertical rock climbing opportunities for those with the right experience, equipment, and permits. CONS: Highway 24 can be very, very busy during the height of "Texas tourist season," as this road that leads to the park is also the only way across the front range mountains for miles in any direction. Parking lots can be full on weekends, and trails are sometimes crowded in the lower portions. Not a lot of tree cover, so be sure to bring a hat. Overall, this is one of my favorite hiking parks for challenge and convenience. Parking: Crowded on weekends. Otherwise OK. Restrooms: Only one or two porta-potties, and only at the trailhead. So make sure to go before you go, and prepare to wait in line.
This hiking trail offers a variety of activities for both humans and their furry companions. The red rock formations provide a stunning backdrop for a scenic hike, while the running paths and mountain biking trails offer options for those seeking a more adventurous outing. The enclosed off-leash dog trails and dog bark area are great for exercising your furry friends, while the dog agility course adds an extra element of fun. Overall, this trail is a great choice for anyone looking for a dynamic outdoor experience.
Good place to hike. wide trails and interesting views
This open space is massive. You could go on a new trail once a week for months before you'd run out of options to go on. Absolutely beautiful, like a more subtle Garden of the Gods, with rock formations and abundant wildlife. The area used to be a quarry, so you can go climb and explore the areas where they used to cut out the stone. The wildlife is absolutely prestine. I see deer nearly everytime I go, but be cautious, as mountain lions and rattlesnakes are also present in the area. The contemplative trail is my absolute favorite out of all the routes I've went on throughout Red Rocks. It takes you through beautiful rock formations, forested areas, and gorgeous overlooks. It's often not quite as busy as Garden of The Gods but can be quite packed on weekends and holidays. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place to a friend. 10/10. Friendly reminder to be respectful out on the trail, to both people and wildlife. Pick up after and leash your pets, stay on designated trails, and remember the principles of Leave No Trace. Parking: 3 main parking lots exist in the entrances of the open space. Restrooms: A port-a-potty is in each parking lot. Use at your own risk, it can be pretty knarly at times Dog-friendliness: Dogs must be on leashes the entire time except in the designated dog-park. The dog park itself is a very good size, lots of room to run and play and explore. All other areas are leash permitted and you must remove your pets excrement, including the bag you use to pick it up with.
Beautiful! We did mesa-greenlee-red rock loop, which was a little less than 2 miles. Try to arrive early— only one parking lot was open and it was full by the time we left at 10 am.
