The front desk people make the whole hotel worth the experience. The one thing i can’t seem to understand is why this is the most expensive hotel in the area, there’s holiday inn and the brand new suburban suites with full furnished rooms with full kitchens, and they are a decent chunk of money cheaper than here. Every good employee either left or is leaving. I just wish theyd lower the prices. That would do wonders for business.
No recommend hotel. Looks like people lives there. No feels safe. The room smell to strong odor of cigarettes smoke. We ask for refund and decide to leave because we didn’t feel safe and may no get a good night sleep. Definitely needs and good cleaning. We find hair in the bed. Mattress no have cover protector they look gross. Our room have no microwave. Even tho price is cheap the quality of room/area the was not worth and for the peace of mind either.
The people at the front desk were very kind. They ended up switching my room 3 times, which was really considerate, and I appreciated that so much. Unfortunately the conditions of the rooms weren’t great. The first room I was in had more flies and ants than I could kill. The second room had a really thick smoke smell, and the third - which I stayed in - had bugs as well. The airport is 13-15 minutes away by car, so I would preschedule a ride if you’re planning to catch an early flight. I was told there is no airport shuttle.
terrible place, didn’t even spend the night. i booked this as part of the park sleep and ride thing so i was able to drive down and park my car in their lot for a few days while i flew out of ohare. i got checked in and got to my room and it was awful. it smelt like cigarettes, it needed paint and a lot of work in the structure, and felt really unsafe. the bed sheets felt unclean. i immediately found a different hotel to stay at. i kept my car parked there still for the length of my trip and that part was fine.
I'm going to give five stars because even though coming here, we didn't expect it to be the fanciest hotel, it definitely provided what we needed and we we very pleasantly surprised. We had a last minute trip , so the park and stay option worked perfectly for us since we were only able to be there a few hours and had to leave. The shuttle service was great and convenient. The beds were surprisingly super comfortable and we slept better there than we had at many other hotels. I do have to say though, that the best thing about this Red Roof, is the staff. Everyone we came across from the front desk, to the shuttle driver, was so friendly and welcoming and ready to help. The owners here have hired a great team that they should be proud of!
Fruit flies here and there in the room. No microwave or fridge in some rooms but microwave on property. Over a week I've been here and no offer of room service. Big thing though is they allow dogs. If that's your policy, you need to have a strategy when a loud dog becomes a problem. I complained 3 times, 3 days about the same dog going crazy in the room above me. Never addressed. Safety: Cops did have to come by one night I was there.
This is my honest review of this place. I have stayed here 3 different times and will say this. If you just want a room to sleep for the night because you plan on spending most of your time sightseeing, it's really an average decent place. Now expect a smoke smell to be attached to your room, regardless if it's a smoking/or not. My light for the sink barely worked but if I tried long enough it will work. Beds are decently comfortable and pillows are not paper thin! I don't use any of the drawers or stuff that can open because when I did open this time, there was a surplus of cherry seeds and cherry stems sitting in the drawer. I didn't care because I don't use it so just closed it back up. The shower gives me scorching hot water every time so I can't complain. There will most likely be other guests hanging outside of their rooms where the grass section is but typically if you mind your own business it's fine. I will say this also, I do have a more recent car make and nothing has ever happened to my car while staying there. Sheets for the most part are clean sometimes the occasional stains. Definitely not luxury but it does the job. Walls are also thin so beware if you are intending to get a lot of sleep because you may have loud neighbors. One recommendation I can't say enough is BRING YOUR OWN SLIPPERS. I just wear my crocs whenever walking through the room for my own peace of mind. But with all of the other reviews, this location/hotel does not try to advertise to be something it isn't. You are getting what you pay for, and if you're not happy with this place you can literally pay more for a nicer place. This is just an affordable location. I also have NEVER seen a cockroach while staying at this hotel on 3 separate occasions 3 different years in a row. We usually come back when it's later at night mightnilght/1 and we have never felt unsafe. May also want to bring extra toilet paper as you might not be able to get more just a precaution not mandatory. The workers are always very nice and willing to accommodate if needed. Have never had any issues otherwise! Rooms: Can't control who is in the room next to you, might be loud at night if you're in the main area. Nearby activities: Japanese market with food court right near by. Otherwise it will be a 30/45 minute drive depending on where you want to go. I can also recommend driving to Lincoln park then taking the train to the city for a less hectic time.
Don't stay here. This place is not cared for. Bugs, smells, dirt. It's a cheap hotel. I unfortunately booked a room here because I had an early morning flight and didn't want to fight the traffic early. I regret it. I'm sorry to the staff working there. I know you don't own the facility and can only do so much. You were all kind and friendly at check in. You even called us to make sure we had a shuttle I canceled the service my car would not be safe. Avoid this place. To the owners. Do better. Update after owner response: It is very evident that my experience was not an isolated incident. The floor in the room was sticky and dirty. The bed had hair on the sheets. Cockroaches were present. Alive and living there. I slept fully clothed in my jacket and jeans. I didn't open my luggage. Luckily, I stayed only a few hours because of my flight. If you as the owner are truly concerned can I call for a partial refund of the fees I paid? No offer was made to me for a refund or conspensation for this experience. If you stand by your and truly are surprised by this review make it right by a partial refund. I'll await your reply.
Bed was comfy but the Room was awfully muggy and unbearably hot, ac did not work. Asked if they can swap rooms for us but they weren’t able to accommodate, the employee younger Indian man helping me understood our situation and said to let management know. Went to check out and management woman, blonde+blue eyes seemed extremely uninterested to be there so I didn’t bother to retell my dilemma.
Great location but it's all downhill from there. Nothing ever worked! Had to go to the laundromat my whole stay though amenities such as washer, dryer and microwave were promised. Want a microwave and fridge? You'll have to pay extra for it as it is does not come standard which is sheer ridiculousness for damn near $500 a week! No need to leash your pets there huge dogs roaming the premises unleashed like it's a dog park! Plenty of poop too where most hotels in this day and age provide poop bags for you to clean up behind your pets. Child labor laws being broken on a daily basis during summer/spring and winter break! Underage/underpaid children working whilst the cameras were rolling. Freely entering the office, laundry room and other areas frequented by workers who have the legal premise to enter them all with the managements knowledge and approval. I wouldn't allow them to clean my room out of fear that they could sustain an injury of some sort handling chemicals and such. I had to all but beg for toilet paper! Most times front desk would lie and say they didn't have it or tell you to get it from housekeeping who would in turn tell you to get it from front desk because they were instructed not to give it to us. Just bought my own. But the last straw that lead to my checkout was the sudden discontinuance of the mail. $1600+ a month in rent and they didn't even have the courtesy to give adequate notice! No apology either! Zero regard for people who were receiving government benefits which require you to have a stable address throwing many peoples benefits in a whirlwind being that the mail was being rejected which automatically suspends any government benefit warranting an in person visit. Broken windows galore of course because, addicts. Upside. Maintenance guys were great, location is great. Restaurants and stores galore and the 606 took you to most of them. Most were walkable though. The location was great. The amenities were almost nonexistent. Walkability: Stores and restaurants galore! Nice location also. Very well maintained neighborhood
