Rooms are ok and cozy for a cheap price, but the place is showing its age a bit. Convenient location with nice walking paths in the back to water and parks. However, the area is a bit sketchy. They do charge $15 a night for parking which is crazy given the location and being a cheaper hotel. It wipes away the value. Parking scam. Would have given 2 or 3 stars without this scam. Disgusting. Place has potential. If they cleaned up and it wasn't sketchy outside and they got rid of the parking scam, it could be 4 stars and they could charge more too.
Diner was awesome with an awesome front desk staff. Unfortunately, those were the only good things about this place. I was moved rooms 4 times in my first night. The first room had busted out grating in the AC unit with bugs littering it and a funky smell. They were happy to move me to a different room, but that AC did not work at all. The third room seemed fine, until around midnight when I took a shower. I noticed water pooling in the bathroom and used every towel to clean it up. After walking back out I realized the water flooded from the bathroom into the rest of the room, up towards the bed. I had shoes and clothes ruined and my suitcase now has water stains. I was nearly in tears and even noticed what looked like a blood stain on the floor to the left of the sink. The manager was very quick to personally come help with moving me to my final room and was very kind to me. He mentioned waiving fees but didn't specify what exactly. I emailed later to see about getting a refund for the first night and was told I could have a night comped for the future or would have to contact Priceline for the refund. I have been going in circles since then for over a week having sent emails and calling trying to get reimbursed just for the room, not even caring about my ruined items. Nothing against the staff, but after everything I'm simply not interested in another stay here for the price. The facilities are outdated, not clean, the one working elevator felt like something out of a Final Destination movie.
We stayed at the Red Roof Inn Plus, and made our reservation through booking dot com. Making the reservation was easy enough, the photos were very appealing and the hotel sounded nice and was decent on price, from the looks of it. Checking in was an entirely different story. The staff were rude and unpleasant, immediately upon seeing me. They tried several excuses to decline my reservation, which was fully paid in advance, without refunding me. They offered several reasons, all based on "policies" that weren't listed with booking, and couldn't be found ANYWHERE on their website or even posted in their lobby. Finally, after causing a ton of undue panic and stress, they allowed me to check into the room I paid for, but only after forcing my guest to put his ID and a separate deposit on the room. They took every opportunity to publicly judge my appearance, and to mortify and shame me for being lower income. But again, this is a red roof inn, it is not exactly upscale. They're pretty much famous for housing individuals looking for a relatively clean place to do drugs with their paid companions. Fortunately for them, that is NOT what we were there for, but they sure treated us as such. The room was average, it wasn't as clean as you'd hope, and the bathroom and appliances were sort of grimy. The bed was pretty uncomfortable but the sheets seemed clean. The TV worked, as did the AC/Heat unit. The noise level wasn't perfect, but it was tolerable. None of the issues were worth another interaction with the horrible staff. Through no fault of the hotel, I was injured in an accident during my stay, while out for the day, and wasn't able to return to the hotel for our second night. I called as soon as I was able, to let the staff know why I hadn't checked out, and to ask about getting my bags from in the room. The staff member then informed me that my bags were gone, that no one had seen them and they were not responsible for my belongings. It wasn't until I threatened to contact corporate and booking dot com, that they mysteriously found the bags that no one had seen and weren't in the room, imagine that. I scheduled a time for pickup, and then made the two hour trip to do so. I waited in line for another hour before FINALLY staff attended to the issue. They gave me the key to my former room, and weirdly, it was all untouched, 4 days later. If they were that busy, you'd think they'd need the room. I guess I'm glad they didn't touch my stuff. I would avoid this one if possible, there are MUCH nicer hotels in the direct vicinity, for a better price. It's just not worth the stress and hassle. They're not great people and it's not a great hotel.
This hotel is way better than it needs to be for the price. Got a good deal on a low cost website for four rooms for one night. The rooms are comfortable, it's a budget hotel so it's got decent beds, showers etc. The value for money is great. Also there's an excellent 24 hour diner attached to the motel where you can get standard dishes and some fantastic tasty Cambodian ones. It really does the job but you can't expect it to correspond to a five star place. Would stay here again if I was in transit. Very happy with the place
Friendly gentleman at check-in! Smooth process! Pros: the restaurant attached to the hotel has great food, 24hrs! Room was spacious and very clean! Cons: No shuttle bus, I didn't have a car so had to walk 15min to catch the 292 bus. If you do have a car, 15$ to park. My room smelled of smoke upon entering and wifi was very spotty. Building needs an update, very old! Sketchy homeless people hanging around and guests smoking weed and cigarettes right in front of their doors. Also, elevator needs to be updated, very very old and dirty. Only stayed because I needed to catch early flight and that's all she wrote! Also, there is nothing in the area as far as food, things to do!
This place is ratchet. Outside is dilapidated and feels sketchy, elevators in rough shape, and they make you pay $15/day to park, which would have earned a poor rating on its own . “Everywhere in San Francisco does that” according to front desk. Clientele is super rough. The room next door had their front door wide open smoking weed when I got to my room, and later I got to smell it again when my AC unit blew it into my room. I realize it’s legal here, but I wouldn’t want to be subjected to constantly smelling other peoples cigarettes either. Here’s hoping I can still pass a drug test. Thought I was smart saving $30 or so doing the Priceline “pay now, and then we tell you which of these three hotels you get” deal, but that was a mistake. Staff was nice, room was acceptably clean, sheets had some light staining, amenities were lacking, no USB ports, etc. Summary, for me as a young male it was livable for a night. If I needed more than one I would have been looking for a different hotel mostly due to clientele, and I 100% would not bring my wife here. Absolutely will not stay here again. Heed the other reviews, I wish I had.
The look of the place is atrocious. The elevators are broken and feel like they could fall any moment. The rooms are dirty for the most part. Our rooms smelled intensely of cigarette smoke in a supposedly non-smoking property: we informed the front desk and they chose to do nothing about it. There are nearly no charging ports in the rooms, the check-in process is very slow and tedious, and the parking is paid as well. The general place feels unsafe with very loud and obnoxious people roaming around the property high and drunk. Overall an extremely unpleasant experience and not sensible for the lower price you think you are paying.
Everything was great ! The manager was so helpful and accommodating, he even went out of his way with helping me and boyfriend try to find truck parking since truck parking is basically non existent in San Fran. It was less than half a mile from the hotel so we were thankful for that ! The room was spacious and the water was hot. The rooms could use a bit of a upgrade but for the price it was worth it. The best part about this hotel is the restaurant attached. We ate there 4x during our stay. It was perfect!
I’ve come to realize that Red Roof Inns are really unpredictable and sketchy. I’ve stayed in a couple of nice ones. This one isn’t. Our room smelled like an ancient swamp cooler. There were about 12 squares of toilet paper on the one roll that was provided. I went down and got more from the receptionist. Later, I realized there were no bath towels. Another trip to the lobby. One of these towels was stained and nasty. Gross. The one saving grace is that there is a connected diner and bar that’s open 24 hours and has good food and a really pleasant staff.
Don’t normally write reviews but this place was gross. Room wreaked, everything felt grimy and damp, and towels were stained. Didn’t want to pull the fitted sheet back because there had to be bed bugs in this place, as there were other bugs in the room. Girlfriend and I just wanted a place to sleep for 6 hours during a layover, we both would have rather slept on the airport floor. Also, not a picky person, just got back from a trip in the jungles of Colombia and I was less grossed out by the bunk bed, exposed to the elements, I slept in on a 4 day jungle trek than this place.
