Farrier / Blacksmith / Equine Artistry
Welcome to the RedStone Forge Facebook page! We hope you find everything artistic a fellow equine lover will desire. RedStone Forge is focused on providing high-quality service & customer satisfaction – we will do all we can to meet your expectations.
RedStone Forge is the Louisville-based farrier, blacksmith, & equine artistry of Robin Plank. Robin has been an equine enthusiast nearly all her life…at the ripe age of 13 she saved up enough money to purchase her first pony & has had a horse by her side ever since. She was professionally trained at New England Farrier School, where she studied equine physiology & became skilled in the art of shoeing horses. Forge work & welding were also introduced to the 19 year-old blacksmith student. Naturally, she has migrated to the Bluegrass state, where horses are appreciated, adored, & abundant. Here she became the first woman to earn her KHRC (Kentucky Horse Racing Commission) blacksmith license to practice on the backside at Churchill Downs. Moreover, she became the first female farrier ever to serve as a paddock blacksmith for the world famous Kentucky Derby.
While Robin continues to shoe many horses all over the Ohio Valley she persists to pursue her passion for them through the arts. Annually she donates her fine art to the Shamrock Foundation’s “Art For The Animals” event, where pieces are auctioned to benefit all varieties of our four-legged loved ones in need. In addition, she takes part in a selection of art fairs & festivals in Kentucky to share her love for the unbridled spirit of horses & the Bluegrass.
