AMAZING PLACE. I can’t even begin to describe how worth it it was to make the stop here and try out their legendary ice cream and milkshakes! The quality of the in-house milk production at Reid’s Dairy almost can’t be beat. The ice cream was the creamiest and richest I’ve ever tasted, and they had such a great variety of flavours. I tried the banana and the cotton candy, both of which I would recommend. I paid very little and got two scoops in a waffle bowl, which was easily a pint’s worth of ice cream. I know this is a local gem I’m eagerly going to look forward to returning to in the future!
A great place for kids and adults as well to enjoy the local ice cream with taste and history. Served in a lot of flavours, i ream or shakes are both equally good. Very inexpensive and quantity is huge. Love the ambience with a touch of history displayed in store. A great place to enjoy a scoop or 2
This ice cream place is a special and very good prices . The flavours are very good and the ice cream was soft . The portion were very good . 9/10
Wow amazing icecream. Their scoops and servings are like triple of what I see at other places. We ordered single scoops in a cone and in a cup. The single scoop was literally in a mug. Never seen such a huge single scoop before. And the single scoop cone was big too! Love the icecream here and definitely worth visiting. Will definitely return again. 4 single scoop icecreams came up to be almost $13. Good price!!
Best ice cream & shakes! Well worth stopping by for a treat
During a weekend stay in Belleville with my family, we decided to visit Reid's Dairy to try their famous milkshakes. Prior to our stop we read their website, where we learned that they were only selling their famous loonie milkshakes to people who bring their own cups, which we did. Prices were higher if you didn't bring a cup. When we arrived, we were told that that they could only serve $1 shakes in our cups if we ordered vanilla. We ended getting two vanilla shakes in our own cups, one strawberry shake in one of Reid's cups, and an ice cream cone that was generous in its portions. Final price: $7.44 tax included! Glad we came here as my family had a blast.
If we could give it zero stars, I would. Today we were not given what we paid for as we witnessed them cutting corners to save money. We took my daughter to get milkshakes for her birthday. It was her special day, so we paid extra for milkshakes made with their flavoured premium hard ice cream instead of cheaper soft served which is half the price. We’ve had it a few times before, and they always used only hard ice cream and a little milk to make this milkshake. However, this time, they filled the cups with mostly soft serve, lots of milk, and the smallest scoop of hard ice cream. It was disgusting. We essentially paid twice as much for soft serve because we couldn’t even taste the flavoured hard ice cream we asked for, and the milk they added just watered down the soft serve, making it liquid like it had already melted. My daughter was so disappointed because it was her bday, and she knew what it was supposed to taste like, but she couldn’t even eat this milk-filled soft serve because it was so gross. My partner tried telling them this is not how we’ve had this before, and they argued with us that this is how they do it, which we feel is a lie based on our past experiences. He had already paid at this point, and trying to tell them that they were doing it wrong was making a scene, so they took it and left, but after paying $17 for three milk-diluted soft-serve milkshakes, we will never get milkshakes from them again.
It's been a while since the last time I was there. Was expecting a thick milkshake, like the past. This time it was so liquid. Not sure if I would get it again. Just stay with the ice cream. Enjoy
Reid’s dairy has been a favourite stop on our travels throughout the years and it used to be out in the middle of nowhere and is now more built up around it! The store itself has lost a bit of charm as shaker the cow no longer moos and you can’t push a button to make the train go anymore either but the ice cream is great! The famous loonie shakes are now $1.89 for small and you can get medium and large sizes. I really like how the store has divided the counter for retail/dairy shopping and shakes vs ice cream as the ice cream line can get pretty insane!!! The shakes really are still among the absolute best and it’s worth the pop off the highway to visit - great value, great flavours and a good local business to support.
The two older women working here are the best examples on how not to lead a team. Miserable leadership behind the counter making every young employee uncomfortable and miserable you can see it on their faces. Yelling at customers showing visible frustration slamming down orders and being rude to customers and staff around you is no way to lead a team In a busy environment. Poor leadership that needs to be let go. After 5 years as a firefighter this place is a great example on why one must lead with respect and positivity not rude authority over one’s team and customers. I feel For the young staff and the customers that have to deal with this unchecked disrespect and absence of leadership in the workplace. It’s supposed to be an experience getting ice cream not this.
