Doctor Biographies

Dr. Tim Reid (far left) graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. He immediately joined his father, Dr. Richard Reid, and Uncle, Dr. Bob Reid, in practice at Reid Veterinary Hospital. RVH was founded in 1934 by George F. Reid and functions today as a small animal practice focused primarily on dogs and cats. Dr. Reid does however enjoy seeing the occasional pocket pet! His main areas of interest are Dermatology and small animal Orthopedics.
Dr. Reid remains a dedicated member of the Albany community. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Albany and Boys and Girls Club. In his spare time Dr. Reid enjoys outdoor activities with his wife and four boys. There’s always an off chance you will catch him skiing at Mt. Bachelor or climbing Mt. !

Dr. Mike Peterson (far right) graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. He received his Masters in Toxicology in 1994 from the University of Arizona. Dr. Peterson joined the team at Reid Veterinary Hospital in June of 1999. He is recognized as one of the leading experts on venomous snakebites in veterinary patients in North America and has written and lectured on the topic since 1985. His area of interest at Reid’s is small animal medicine with emphasis on Reproduction.
Dr. Peterson is the author of two textbooks; Small Animal Toxicology (Peterson/Talcott) and Small Animal Pediatrics-the first 12 months of life (Peterson/Kutzler). Both books are well received in the veterinary community. He is also a faculty member at two Pac 12 Universities; Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Arizona. In his free time Dr. Peterson breeds and shows Lakeland Terriers. He is married and has 4 children.

Dr. Andrea van de Wetering (middle) has been providing care for pets at Reid Veterinary Hospital since 1995. She graduated from the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. In the 17 years at Reid Veterinary Hospital, along with general practice, she has had a focus on small animal dentistry and has a passion for providing exceptional dental care for her patients.
In 2009 she achieved advanced credentials in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and provides advanced dental care and “tooth saving” procedures for pets at Reid Veterinary Hospital. She also teaches the small animal dentistry course at the OSU veterinary college to third year veterinary students as well as a preventative dentistry course to fourth year veterinary students. Dr. Van teaches dentistry classes to general practitioners in Oregon, Washington and California and has several publications on the topic. In addition, she lectures to kennel clubs, student groups and nationally at veterinary meetings in dentistry care and techniques. Dr. Van is owned by one cat, Double, and when she is not being a vet, she enjoys raising two teenage boys, gardening and golfing.

"Reid Veterinary Hospital is one of the longest standing veterinary hospitals in Oregon and the longest standing AAHA certified hospital in the State. We are a fourth generation family practice that was started by Dr. George F. Reid in 1934. His sons, Dr. George R. Reid and Dr. Richard D. Reid continued the tradition followed by Richards’ son Dr. Tim Reid, the current owner. Dr. Tim will be joined by son Harrison following his graduation from the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine this summer. For over 75 years we have taken great pride in our reputation and consider it an honor to serve those in Albany and the mid Willamette Valley."

For starters find the best review on Reid Veterinary Hospital you're able and double it. The doctors and staff at Reid's still own their own souls. Expect kindness, compassion and the best medical care possible and if all this criteria is met you'll know you're at Reid Veterinary Hospital. And let us all celebrate that this exemplary medical care is now four generations deep. If I knew how to voice a more complementary review you'd be reading it right now.
My kitten needed to be seen urgently, on a Saturday. I was able to get in and be seen. The Vet was concerned about my Best Boy but also understood cost could be prohibitive. We were able to balance diagnostics and treatment and I appreciated her care and understanding. Now it's just a waiting game, but he has a fighting chance
This clinic and all its doctors and staff are fantastic! I was never rushed during our appointments and they provided me so much information that I had never heard before on how to care for my dogs and my cat. Everything they suggested has drastically improved their conditions and they have always been very attentive and followed up with their care.
Best veterinary office I’ve ever gone to. I have taken my dog in many times and she has been seen by several of the doctors there and each time I felt like they really truly cared about her and her well being. This is the first vet that showed true kindness and compassion for my little dog and also for me from the reception area to the techs to the doctors and everyone in between. Thank you Reid veterinary hospital from both of us!
I have been to numerous veterinarians and Reid Veterinary Hospital tops them all. The staff are kind, respectful, knowledgeable and treat you like a friend instead of rushing you out the door. Not to mention the prices are very reasonable. After every appointment I walk out of the building grateful I found them!
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this office is. Our fur baby was becoming so sick and I have been to 5 vets before this one and they all told me the same thing, it was just a coincidence. Dr.Tim Reid was the very first vet to actually listen to what I had to say and was the only vet to give me a referral to a specialist. He was very honest about the situation because it was terminal. They have mailed me a sympathy card when our baby passed and on his profile online with this vet clinic, they wrote more sympathies about my pet. It’s hard not to play the”what if” game, but what if I went to Dr. Tim Reid sooner? But… I’m so glad I did go to them when I did. Thank you! We continue to be your clients and bringing our new fur baby to you. If you come here trust me you’re in good hands!
We have been loyal customers to Reid vet for many years. Cannot say enough good things about the doctors who continue to aid in the care of our pets. So thankful..
After being in the Military for the last 21 years I have been to hundreds of different veterinary Hospitals. Reid is head and shoulders above any other place I have taken a Battle Buddy Pet. Kilo My Dog is not only my Service Animal but also My best Friend. Reid is the only place I will take my Best Friend now!!! V/R Alan Merrick
Some reception and Tech staff can be rude but every vet I've seen was amazing. Tim did a lump removal on my old gal and it was so fast amazing recovery. The last appt. Was with Jackie and she was awesome! Made me feel comfortable and had so many recommendations and gave me her email incase I had more questions. The vets are definitely personal and thats why we love them!
The Reid family is wonderful and caring. They have a very difficult job and we appreciate their patience, attentive listening and willingness to tackle mysteries.
