They use a low- watt bulb (or a heating element) to warm the wax to the perfect temperature to release fragrance into the air. No soot, no flame, no burning wax, just fragrance. You are able to leave them on 24/7, and if the kids or pets come into contact with the melted wax, it's hot enough to burn them and the wax is food grade paraffin.
