Rethreaded is a social entrepreneurship that is breaking the cycle of the sex trade by offering viable and creative work to those affected by the sex trade. We are fighting the business of the sex trade with business. We believe that the sex trade can steal a person's identity, worth, and value. We seek to be an organization that offers a chance for people to experience, learn, and grow into the fullness of who they are.
Locally, Rethreaded provides a three month on-site job training program for women in the Jacksonville, Florida area who are coming out of lives of addiction, violence, human trafficking, and prostitution. Many of these women leave prison with felony records, creating significant challenges to employment. Rethreaded is a safe place where women are paid a living wage to become artisan seamstresses and “upcycle” donated t-shirts into new creations for sale.
Globally, Rethreaded also operates as a distribution company that sells products made by women from all over the world who have found freedom from the sex trade. We sell these products at our warehouse, local events, seasonal home parties, and online.
