The Veterans of Foreign Wars, created in 1899 in Columbus, Ohio, by veterans of the Spanish-American War, is devoted to the rehabilitation of disabled veterans, takes an active part in Veterans issues, protection of national security through maximum military strength, and promotion of patriotism and community service activity.
In communities across the nation, the VFW is helping America's defenders and their families. It provides scholarship programs through the Voice of Democracy and Americanism programs. The VFW Post 9473 is an active member of the community, participating in a number of Reynoldsburg and other central Ohio community events.
