Great customer service, good selection of lumber and burls in stock. In the past when I need quality lumber for special projects I had to drive to Raleigh or Charlotte to find it. When my daughter requested I make a urn for a friend of hers I tried Ballash woodworks to see what they had in. The employee on site was very helpful and professional. They had good selection of lumber at fair prices and a military discount to boot. They are big on supporting veterans. I left very pleased with some beautiful figured maple and some walnut. While in the shop I saw several projects going. As a wood worker myself I was impressed the the quality of work leaving the shop. The attached photos is just to show the lumber I purchased finished with Danish oil.
I have never met a more professional group or business owner before. Every time I have a woodworking project I go here and 10/10 would recommend everyone do the same. The level of care and importance of guidance above sales is outstanding. I was blessed to have Kurt and his crew mentor me with the design and creation of my daughters urn and could not be happier with the outcome. Because of kurt and his crew my daughter has the most beautiful resting place I could have ever dreamed imaginable.
Kurt, Erin, and crew were amazing. From the time I stopped in to ask questions, until final delivery of the products, they were up front the entire time. If there was any question, they called, and went the extra mile to ensure I would be satisfied. Even when I was unsure of what I wanted, their professionalism and candor was all that was needed to obtain the information needed to create and finalize the product. I will be going back for sure.
Had a great day creating a one of a kind cutting board! I will be coming back. Thanks for taking the time Kurt and Greg to show finer points of the craft. Will be back for another workshop!
I can't suggest checking out Ballash Woodworks enough. You're not just purchasing an item for your home, but are making an investment on heirloom quality products, potentially with a good back story. I use Ballash Woodworks cutting board and coasters on a daily basis. I also have made good use of the bourbon glass and cigar holder. The one item that takes the most abuse is my coffee table, that Ballash Woodworks made from reclaimed barn wood. I strongly suggest checking out Ballash Woodworks for any of your carpentry needs or ideas. You will receive a hand made, made in the USA product from a business owned and operated by veterans. I can't think of a better place to purchase items from. Keep up the great work Ballash Woodworks.
I contacted Kurt requesting to have a board cut for a project I'm working on for my wife. They were simple, straight cuts. He's a busy guy, but still took a few moments to take care of what I needed. Very friendly, courteous and professional. He will have my business in the future and I highly recommend Ballash Woodworks.
Ballash Woodworks made me a custom live edge table and a stove top board. Both are beautiful and everyone that comes to my house comments on how pretty and unique they are. Not only is Ballash and the owner talented and professional, Mr Ballash has been generous over the last two year by donating to a fundraiser I have in Ohio. He has been a sponsor for two years as well as made and donated two beautiful cutting boards for the event. I'm proud to be a customer of Ballash Woodworks.
In November 2021, I sent Kurt Ballash two photos of a cabinet I wanted. Both photos showed a door on the cabinet. He asked for the dimensions, then sent me an estimate of the cost to build the cabinet and an invoice billing me for 50% of the cost. I went into the office and paid him the cash. During the 5 months it took him to build it, I received a few emails stating that they were sorry for the delay but they had been sick. I never once received a phone call or an email from anyone at this business asking me if I wanted a door as pictured on my cabinet. When I went in to pick up the cabinet, there wasn't a door on it. I spoke to Erin and said "it's supposed to have a door". She replied "well, I guess we need to put a door on it. When I called you, you said you didn't want a door". As I said, I have not spoken to anyone from this business about a door on this cabinet. After leaving, I received and email saying I would need to pay an additional $250 to have a door put on it. I called the office spoke to Erin and told her this was not what we agreed on. I had received an estimate for a cabinet with a door and was not paying any additional charges. She and I had an escalated exchange and she hung up on me. I asked for Kurt to call me to talk about the issue. He emailed me saying he couldn't hear phone conversations but that he did hear my end of mine and Erin's phone call. So, I asked three times, by email, was he going to honor our contract and he declined three times. That's when I posted about his business on FB and filed a complaint with BBB. I feel as though Ballash Woodworks has been dishonest in our agreement. They also did not honor our contract.
Ballash Woodworking is awesome! They make custom wood pieces such as cutting boards, coasters and much more. Kurt teaches other veterans how to do working! He is a blessing to veterans!
Totally impressed with Ballash Woodworks, they have exceeded all of my expectations. Kurt is an amazing craftsman and Erin was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I’m amazed at how they take an idea and make it a reality. They completed one project for me and are currently working on another. I will definitely be back for more, as soon as I think of something else I need built!
