From the Mind of a Child – A Promise to My Daughter
All aspects of the salon, beauty industry, fashion & hair care are my passion. I’ve always welcomed ideas suggested by my stylists – their creativity is amazing & I enjoy implementing their particular point of view in a business we’ve grown over 10 years together . . . as a team. Ideas are born from the most unexpected experiences.
I have a bright & inquisitive 8-year-old daughter named Riley. She rules my universe & often keeps me grounded in the present. We have a special bond & I enjoy our conversations. During one of our “bonding conversations”, she listened to my ideas about introducing a line of hair products that I was naming after her. It wasn’t the performance, result or scent that interested her . . . she wanted to know if the bottles were ‘good for the earth’. She went on to tell me how they recycle containers in school but more importantly reuse before they throw away if possible & how important it would be to make sure that my products were made of materials so they could be recycled or reused. To her, that was it. To me, it was a life moment & a promise I would make to my daughter for her future. Of course, I had already selected environmentally-friendly packaging but it gave me the thought to take it one step further . . . not only encourage recycling but to develop a system so they could be refilled & reused!
The RIAH™ Concept is Born.
It was then RIAH™ (“HAIR” in reverse) was born . . . much more than quality, eco-friendly ingredients and superior results, RIAH™ Haircare products are filled into Class 2 recyclable containers & are designed to be refilled & reused! I’ve developed a program for salons to have “on site” refilling stations that have the ambience of a vintage apothecary. Dispensing stations that are created from used furniture & transformed into one-of-a-kind retail display with an environmental purpose! This re-purposing of furniture and extending the life-cycle of the packaging contributes to “reversing” the amount of content in our landfills. A promise to our future generation . . . fulfilled.
