Great place to learn real actual traditional jujitsu. Best location in South Bend.
Definitely the most Premier Academy in the South Bend area. Gary has a rich history with his lineage and is very well respected across the country. He provides a very traditional approach to jiu-jitsu no watering down of the sport or funny business. He does not have contracts or charge for belt ranking. Like most other academies in the area. It is simple you put in the work you show up you get another belt tied around your waist when it is time and never before.
Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu is a very comfortable place to learn and Jiu Jitsu is incredibly fun to practice. The instructors are excellent and fellow students are very helpful to beginners. Everyone takes you under their wing and helps you come up to speed. The atmosphere is light and you will get a great workout! They offer kid's classes too! The kid's instructors are great. The classes are very up beat. You will be amazed at what your kid can do! And you will want to try it too.
Great gym so far. No commitment like most other gyms just have to give him enough notice to cancel payment. Other places want you to commit for a year at least. Two BJJ black belts that I have seen so far. They have 2 classes everyday but Sunday so it fits moat schedule. Classes arent too big so there is enough one on one time with the instructor. Omly complaint is that the membership seems a bit high but there really isnt any place as good as this so its worth it for me.
Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu here in Mishawaka has great people who live as martial artists. The atmosphere is simple and clean with no clutter. Gary & Jack were both super pleasant and skilled at teaching. Though I only had 1 opportunity to visit, I'd really like to come back to hang out with these guys. If you are looking for a great grappling school which you can call your "family", this is the place.
An amazing place, Gary's experience and advanced teaching is of high quality. It is much more than an academy, its family and nothing is bought , everything is earned , by blood, sweat and tears. Nothing but respect for this academy, Gary Briscoe and the Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu organization! If you are looking for a place to train and learn at a high level then this is the place you need to be!
Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu South Bend offers top of the line jiu jitsu in a clean, comfortable environment. Gary is an excellent instructor and a really good guy. I especially like that they have classes 6 days a week. If you are looking for a place to train, you should give Gary a call.
All instructors are great. Laid back atmosphere for the beginners with those ambitious and skilled enough for competition. Membership comes with gym access too!
Clean facility, welcoming atmosphere, and really great instructing. Classes are easily broken down into "crawl, walk, run" style of learning, and each class is finished off with some full sparing. I've been there nearly a year and have dropped 70lbs!
If you're looking for training ground filled with highly skilled instructors and fighters who desire for you to succeed on and off the mat, Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu South Bend is the place. I joined January 2018 with only a little experience in cardio kickboxing, but that didn't matter. Gary and Jack work tremendously well with you regardless of your experience or skill level. Along with their knowledge and passion for this beautiful art form, the physical journey you experience is all the more captivating. Since I've been training, I've went from 230 lbs to 189 lbs to date and still dropping!, and not only have I grown in understanding my body more, but also in controlling myself and keeping composure when engaging another fighter. Likewise, the mental and emotional journey that this place has offered me is astounding. In the words of Grandmaster Helio Gracie, "Jiu-Jitsu represents the triumph of human intelligence over brute strength." This is a challenging concept to fully embrace, but over time, you'll find yourself attempting to let go of being the strongest and see the triumph in being the smartest. Above all else, what really ties everything together in this place is the genuine care that the people have for one another from top down. From day one, I felt well looked after, welcomed, and encouraged. This place is my home and family. We train together, laugh together, and do life together.
