Tried the mango Curry and the chicken pad Thai. The pad Thai was interestingly quite sweet and sticky in comparison to other pad thais I've tried, but still delicious. The mango Curry was okay, nothing special. Rice theory seems to be predominantly take out as there is very limited seating, although I went at prime lunch hours and there weren't many other customers.
Simple. Not fancy at all. Really good Tom Yum soup. Mostly for take out, but there are a few tables there. Also a cute little table for kids. Pay cash and get a 10% discount. The menu is small but there should be something there for everyone. And the authentic looking desserts are intriguing.
Sorry, we had high expectations for this place while we were waiting for it to open. This review was for its first few weeks of opening, so not sure it's improved since then. The noodles were dry, and not that flavorful, and all the dishes we ordered had these dried pieces of tofu? or something that just seemed to be cheap fillers. Definitely didn't seem to be authentic Thai food. We were not impressed with the food, even though the staff was friendly and helpful. We drive by them every day, but haven't felt the need to stop.
The food is fine - the ordering process is obnoxious & annoying. The menu items are displayed on flat screen TVs that suffer from window glare. Then one *must* wait in line to use the single station automated ordering system. They defend it, and maybe it works for the staff, but for customers it's a pain, particularly when stuck behind someone confused by the chimp-like point-at-pictures system. If somehow they survive to franchise unlikely the order overkill might be useful. For now the hassle just encourages me to not waste my time. There are several other good Thai restaurants nearby that aren't so pointlessly precious. IN RESPONSE You know what would be efficient, and respectful, of the customer? If the clerk walking people through your obnoxious ordering system JUST TOOK THE ORDER. Like successful places do. Instead, thanks, no, I won't call my order in, I'll just go to one of the other nearby just as good or better Thai restaurants that can take my order without the asinine gimmickry.
I enjoyed the food and experience quite a bit. It's not what it seems. You see pictures of types of Thai food, one with chicken, one with beef, one with tofu, etc., but when you actually go through the ordering process on their screen, you can interchange ingredients and use other options. The location used to be a sub shop, so there is some room to sit, but mostly people seem to take out their food. This restaurant is a supplier to Whole Foods, apparently, as well. Portions are fairly generous.
Have been there three times and it is over-rated. Last night at about 8:45 pm I ordered two appetizers and asked that they be lightly fried. Neither women could understand what I was saying and were abrupt and rude. Food was greasy and heavily fried. Last time I ordered Thai salad. It was not fresh produce and thrown together. They even apologized. Left half of the old lettuce and sour pineapple. I will not be returning to this establishment.
I love Thai food and haven't found a really good place. Rice theory is good. Their pad Thai and stir fry rice is really good and the hot sauce they give is delicious if you like really spicy. If you order in the restaurant you can get a free stir fried rice.
Since RiceTheory opened last year, I've been a pretty frequent customer. As a college student, I used to order from Coconut Thai and Lemon Thai when I needed a flavorful Thai food fix. The dishes at RiceTheory, though, blew them out of the water. I especially love the pad thai and pad see ew, and the fact that vegetarian protein options are available and delicious. I've only dined in once, and the food was a bit fresher than the food after a 15 minute drive back to college. Either option is good! Service overall is very fast, considering they cook the dishes you order via phone once you get there to ensure freshness. Would love to see a delivery option in the future :
Crab Rangoon was excellent and inventive. Pad See Ew oodles were less greasy than typical Thai restaurants, though the flavors could use a little amplification. Innovative screen based enter your own ordering system ensures your order is correct. Staff was friendly and the place was clean.
Ordered on GrubHub and was brought the wrong order. It was late and I resigned to eating what I was brought. A few minutes later the restaurant called and offered to replace my order, and when I told them I was ok with eating what they delivered they insisted I stop by the next day and get my food for free. I really appreciate them going above and beyond to fix an honest mistake. I thought the drunken noodles we're good, but the fried bananas were delicious!
