Ofc. Elders is completely ignorant of law, rude and disrespectful to citizens. Ofc. Hardy is a fast talking, ignorant of law, self centered bafoon. Hope they are NOT still working in law enforcement. Our tax dollars are wasted on these ignorant people to protect us. I take back my 1star rating that I had to pick to post this.

Honestly for Richland County being so big, you lack communication with your residents! Your Facebook page is a joke and the last time it was updated was June 30, 2021! Way to engage with the community, when I search you and click on your webpage, it goes to a dead link, real professional. I went looking for your page because I have a Drs appointment in your county and was trying to find out what weather emergency level you were on but you lack common respect for your residents and those passing through to see your road conditions. People cannot depend on the news, it’s not up to date always, so I go straight to the source, but clearly not here. You could take a lesson from Delaware County’s sheriffs office and how they communicate with their residents, Franklin County even does a heck of a job but you lack this is in every way and put forth no effort in trying.

Tried to serve papers last night after midnight to my sleeping family member and had quite the attitude when I said I wouldn’t be going to wake them up for this nonsense. This was their first attempt and was insanely overly aggressive to be shining spotlights and knocking on doors in the middle of the night. Surely there’s a much safer way to do this for both my family and the officer. Be better sheriff Brian Smiley.

Deputy that pulled us over was VERY aggressive for going 5 MPH over the limit while the cars ahead of us were doing atleast 15 MPH over the limit. What an absolute joke of a department. Then to roll a second car up for that, for what reason? Intimidation? Safety? There's no reason for any of the nonsense that we just endured.

I called in to see about my back ground it's been going on 30 days nothing. Maggie was very rude and seem like i Was bothering her with my questions. All i wanted to know is what was going on because its almost been 30 days since i heard something. Excuse me for calling to check on my backgound. Yall need better customer service Personnel I am very appalled by how I was treated and talked to.

Extremely rude. Don't even bother with them unless you have to. They don't care and they don't listen. My husband called about an abandoned vehicle on a property we are renting and the officer they sent out wouldn't even give him the time of day. He kept interrupting my husband and ignoring everything he said. Then he just got in his car and drove off, leaving my husband standing there mid sentence. And sadly, that isn't the only rude interaction we have had with them. I would rather call the Mansfield Police Department if I need help with anything. They are much more helpful and polite. Thank god we live in city limits now.

No one wants to be in jail and that's not what I'm complaining about. As I was being booked in a scumbag deputy stole a bushnell tactical flashlight from me. He even commented that he was jealous because it was better than his flashlight. He didn't include it in my personal property inventory. I'm infuriated at the morals from the people who are supposed to be held to a higher standard. I want my property back yet am unable to prove what happened.

Richland County sheriff’s department is the sorriest police department ever. If you value your life or loved ones, it’s best not to move to that county. Just pathetic!

Corrupt employees, none of the authority figures are trustworthy, and little to no regard for inmate safety. Richland County Sheriff's Office needs tons of work, it's sad to see what members of our community seem is just.

completely incompetent. absolutely horrible. I'd love to leave my story but unfortunately it would honestly leave my life at risk if I said what happened and they did NOTHING about it. very sad. ongoing with ACLU and other attorneys
