Rigadoon Club Bylaws
Name: The name of the club shall be the Rigadoon Club.
Dues: The dues shall be an amount determined by the Committee per couple per season, or part thereof, payable on or before the first dance each season. Members who have not paid their dues by the first dance of the season may be dropped from membership for the remainder of the year at the discretion of the Committee. If membership is full (125 couples), members desiring leave of absence shall pay one-half yearly dues.
Type of Dances: There shall be no less than four dances, unless the Committee determines that membership and budget can only support three quality dances. All details shall be left to the discretion of the Committee.
Membership: Membership shall consist of those couples interested and shall be limited to 125 paid couples. To be eligible for membership, a couple must have been married for at least one year and be a resident of Kittitas County at the time of joining. Vacancies in membership shall be filled by names suggested to the Committee by any members and voted upon by the Committee. A three-fifths vote of the entire Committee shall be necessary to elect to membership. Previous members shall have first privilege of membership. Members absent from the club two consecutive years shall be considered non-members and thereafter must be elected to membership under the same regulations as other applicants.
Committee: The outgoing committee shall announce at the last dance the Committee to be responsible for the activities of the ensuing year, naming co-chairs who have previously served on a committee. The Committee shall consist of ten couples unless membership is under 100 couples then eight couples shall serve. The Committee shall organize and have at least one dance on or before Halloween, unless three dances are planned in which case a dance will be held by the end of the year.
Guests: Guests must be a couple. Members may bring out-of-town guests to any dance. Local guests may attend one dance per year. Guest fees shall be the same as a member couple pays per dance, unless otherwise determined by the Committee.
Records: Each committee shall keep complete record of membership, type of dances given, detailed expenses of each dance and any additional information necessary for the guidance of the succeeding committee. All records of the club shall be turned over to the new committee at a transitional meeting of the old and new committees to be held soon after the final dance.
Amendments: Amendments to these by-laws may be submitted first to the Committee and then to the general membership for confirmation.
