Enjoyable stop here for sure. $3 self pay to enter. They do have change at the visitor station. They also offer credit card QR code pay, but we didn’t have service there. Lovely trails to walk for all fitness levels and all ages. Easy walk to see the Rio Grande, maps easy to follow, staff/volunteers inside the visitor center were helpful as well. Super clean bathrooms as well! 1/2 day easily spent here. My favorite was the hummingbird station they had set up over the marsh. Swarming with hummers…. So pretty and peaceful there!
$3 self pay entry.. great place for a peaceful day out.. number of accessible trails, relatively flat and suitable for all ages. Number of ponds with turtles, bird watching platforms/bluffs.. Can literally walk up to Rio Grande banks.. can spend anywhere from an hour to half a day..
If you do not have $3 in exact change, look for the QR code on the bulletin board above the payment box. It's a bit convoluted you go through the campsite reservation system and select for a day pass at this park. Great for birding if you are quiet. Some motorized bikes on trails, in addition to commuting and pleasure bikes on paved bike path system. Level and wide paths suitable for beach wheelchairs.
We love this nature center. They have bird watching tours every Saturday and Sunday morning.
Good place to take kids. There is a nature information center for learning. You can take a walk by the river. You might see wildlife.
Was such a beautiful day for a walk, only thing I should have remembered was no dogs. My son was able to stay with our dog outside the park while we got to run in and look around. The State Ranger was super nice and even as so kind to give us bottled water for all 3 of us. Those small gestures mean the most and such a nice lil spot to watch the turtles and ducks
Lots to do and see. The viewing areas are strategic. I got a Slo-MO video of hummingbirds feeding. Connects to the River Loop Trail. We continued on to the Aldo Leonard Forest Trail. Restrooms: Available in Visitor Center, Open 10 AM - 5 PM
Had a great experience with the most friendly rangers walking us around and explaining everything. We did not see a ton of birds because we went a bit later in the day but enjoyed the experience.
Nice walk early in the morning so you get to see more of the wild. Dog-friendliness: Both you and your dog would enjoy this walk on these trails.
The Rio Grande Nature Center is one of my favorite places in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is the perfect place to walk, bird watch, connect with nature, and learn about what the beautiful Bosque has to offer. Great place to take the family or enjoy by yourself. If you haven't already, I highly recommend visiting this wonderful ecosystem.
