Rio Nail Bar & Lashes

I’ve been to Rio twice now, wanted to give them another shot after my first bad experience. The most recent time, I was getting my nails done to get engaged. I asked for French tip with chrome on top very simple and they said they couldn’t do it. The closest they could do was just a plain nude nail with chrome on top that turned out more pink than nude. My nail tech, while friendly, was a bit rough and took 2 1/2 hours to do a simple dip full set. Usually I don’t mind if it takes a while, but two of my nails were put on crooked and the nails were just super thick and uneven see photo below

I started coming to Rio Nail Bar because it’s close to home, but I have tried other nail salons, and I still prefer a Rio over all the others. Their prices are good, they treat you like family and I love having Maya do my nails! My daughter used to go all over to different salons, but now this is also her go to. Having a glass of wine is a bonus at Rio Nail Bar!

I never leave a review. I always give people the benefit of the doubt. I did the best pedicure and it wasn’t good. I got a pedicure and the girl convinced me to get my nails filled. She tried to convince me I had dip nails and I knew I had gel. She wrapped my nails in foil which caused my fake nails to melt. They argued with me at first trying to tell me that they always take off the fake nail and I said I never have had that done. They always take the color off and fill my nails. I had just got a new set 2 weeks ago new so I new they were not bad. They said they would make it right and didn’t charge me for the fake nail but in the end I paid $106. Paid 90 dollars for a full set extra 5 for long nails that weren't even that long... 15 for chrome and he didn't let me know how much chrome was going to cost . Nails are extremely bulky for the length not even being long I have been here before and they did decent work but as soon as he started doing the acrylic I knew the set wasn't great.. I've paid less for better ‍ update: they did fix but not after telling me they weren't going to charge me .. I understand it wasnt her work. I still gave her a tip for her time .

My nail tech is an expert. She is very detailed and nails a short coffin. I always get dip powder because it lasts the longest and you can reshape them if you type a lot, as I do.

I have been a few times. Most recently my mom and I went in for gel manicures. Which is the most reasonable rate I've seen in the area. I selected a gel polish, which has gotten a lot of compliments.

I never leave reviews but I recently got my toes done here. I wanted acrylic on my big toes because I recently had broke it on my couch. When I asked they seemed upset with me but they did it . When they were done it didn’t look right I nicely asked them to fix it becasue it looked bumpy and the nail polish was not on correctly, they got an attitude and started laughing and talking back and forth the lady started getting agressive with my feet and was twisting my toes. Another lady started doing my feet they started arguing over the price whether to charge me extra for the fix up , that she messed up. I showed them a picture of what I wanted something I get everytime as I said I have been coming along time they all know what it is it was still not done correctly but it was better then the first The original lady was pointing and laughing at me as I was paying. Just was not a good experience I have been coming here for 4 years now I have had similar experience everytime but thought it was just an off day but I will not be returning anymore it seems the more recent staff they have hired aren’t good at there job physically or getting along with the customers.

Needed to get my nails done last minute while working in Ankeny. First time at Rio today and I will absolutely be back! The place is stunning, and the staff was extremely attentive, and did an amazing job. I had Nicole she did a great job.

I've been going for a few months here to get my nails done, everyone is so nice, I love it. I always have a great time and leave happy with how my nails come out! Love getting my nails done here!

Horrible service and wanted to charge outrageous prices and wouldn’t be truthful From the beginning on the prices of anything and changed them after doing the work, without asking or saying anything. When called on it wanted to blame me for the not asking along the way. Absolutely worst service and nail shop around.
