Cute cabins, loved the back deck, they do have a grill available and it is maybe 2 ft from your front porch and I think that's too close, there is a fire pit and a picnic table beside your cabin. The downfall of this beautiful location is the restrooms/showers are too far away from the cabins for these late night really have to go situations for children or elderly people. The scenery is beautiful, it's a very quiet place, we did socialize with the neighbors, they do space the cabins far enough apart that you have your privacy. I think we paid $196 for two nights. There's a mini fridge and a microwave, a coffee maker, a shelving space for food. Bring your own linen. There is heating and AC, there's a table and chairs, there are two rocking chairs on the back porch, fluorescent lighting which I really dislike. No smoking inside...no problem. The sofa reclines into a sleeper bed. Sleeping is in queen size bunk beds, thick mattress covered in plastic. I'm 65 years old and climbed to the top bunk fun. Now climb back down to walk down the street for the bathroom. The other couple required the bottom bunk. All in all a fun weekend. We would go again but stay in the cabin across from the restroom.
My family has been here several times and have LOVED IT!! This past weekend July 7-9 was horrible. I’ve looked for an email to send this information to but it’s not posted so I’ll leave it here. The cabins were not cleaned prior to us coming. Lots of dirt and dust everywhere. The bathhouse is also so clean and we usually see maintenance out every morning checking on things. The bathhouse was disgusting. It had mildew on the walls and shower curtains. The ac in one of the cabins was not working. When we called they informed us that maintenance had checked it and it was working fine. There appeared to be no follow through as it was not working. The filter was filthy as well so if maintenance has seen it, they would surely make sure it was done correctly. We had invited extra people up as we have always had a great experience but we were embarrassed on this trip. I hope this can be rectified for future guests. Unfortunately, some of our party won’t be going back. We rented 4 cabins, 6-9.
I don't have much to compare to since this was our first "camping" trip. I was a little skeptical at first. BUT the Shoal Bass cabin was perfect. My family and I are very happy with a bed, ac, and hot showers. The showers were great and not too far. They DO have a coffee maker, microwave, and small fridge. Coffee is a necessity for us! And plenty of power outlets for our chargers. It wasn't crowded, just us, 1 more cabin and 2 rvs. Everyone was very nice! Very clean. We grilled on the grill and made smores in fire pit. My family is diverse and we never felt out of place if ya know, ya know. Also, I have dog that doesn't like other dogs and she was very relaxed here. Makes me feel more comfortable to get her out more often to socialize. Dog-friendliness: My dog was very chill here.
First let me say that 3 stars are probably a little harsh, 3.5 would be closer to how I feel. The trails on this property are in good shape, well marked, and the river is quite beautiful. The two employees that I dealt with were both friendly and helpful. Now the reason for the 3 stars. My son and I came here for a day of hiking and camping. All trails, and their own information lists camping, RV spots and cabins as choices. On this word I paid the $43 dollars for a camp site and went about some hiking. When we went back to our camp spot #10 spot the “camp” site is a trailer slip with very large gravel. There’s absolutely no place to put a tent. So after a day of hiking and paying the money, we had to pack up and drive back home. It’s not at all accurate to call anything here a camp site.
Great little spot for hiking and getting away from the city noise. Has a firepit at every cabin and charcoal grille. Small fridge, heat and ac. No tv or bathroom in cabin. Theres a bathhouse right out front of cabins.
Loved it here!!!! I highly recommend to anyone. Best campground and helpful staff. We brought our little camper and it had everything we needed. They even had heated bathroom/showers available. Love. It did snow when we were there, but that's what we get for going in January lol. We're going again in a few months when it's warmer.
We stayed here during the summer so we could go float the Flint River at Sprewell Bluff Park down the end of the road. Nice bathhouse. Had plenty of shade around RV sites. But very limited # of RV lots. Only 6. They also rent out cabins 6. Very cheap rates.
The cabin itself was nice. The were several electrical outlets. The Heat/AC works very well. The set of bunk beds are sturdy and the mattress is covered in plastic. The couch is firm, but a nice addition. Full size table. Front and back porch area. The bath house is kept very clean. On our visit we had horrible neighbors. They were playing loud vulgar music, drinking all day and night, yelling, singing, dancing, and bring a total nuisance. They had a pitbull tied to the porch. They really ruined the experience for my family to enjoy our cabin. Without the annoying people, this would have been great. We didn't get a chance to use the picnic table, grill, or fire pit next to the cabin because of the people next door. Great potential and we would like to try again and hope for better neighbors.
We loved camping here. Came to go kayaking on the Flint River and this made it such a fun weekend. The campground is very small. There are only six campsites and six cabins. The cabins don’t have any running water inside but there is a bathroom with showers on site.
Very clean and spacious campsites. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Beautiful area with access to Sprewell Bluff and hiking trails. Also, a great place to geocache.
