A Beaver County, PA initiative to create hunger-free and healthy communities through advocacy, education, and support of existing efforts.
The River Town Food Alliance was founded in 2016 following multiple community conversations about the state of food, hunger, and agriculture in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. With agriculture being one of the largest industries in the county, yet most of the population living along our rivers, there was a disconnect between what food was being produced and where it was being used.
While much work has and continues to be done in the county, the River Town Food Alliance seeks to enhance the coordination and and support of existing efforts; provide educational opportunities to our communities about small to large scale farming, urban farming, and food systems; and advocate for a hunger-free, healthy, and empowered Beaver County through the support of local food efforts, increased access to food, and community education.
