Quiet, peaceful campground. Beautiful grounds, well kept up. We stayed with our travel trailer just one night, a Monday night, at site 63, which was a pull-through near the office and playground. Lots of seasonal campers with very nice set ups and well-cared for sites. Pond looked pretty scuzzy, but there were children swimming there, and one child even caught a large bass. Nice laundry room and lounge, beautiful playground. Very nice place to stay. Would definitely return!
We stayed Jun 9 to Jun 11, 2023 site E84, Though there was not a clear designated site, hookups and a concrete pad was the only indication of a site. The ground was not leveled between the concrete pad and hookups and the concrete pad had broken on the corner. The pad at this site was small in nature just wide enough for their table. This site definitely put us near the river and literally isolated from everyone else. The interaction with the staff was minimal though they were friendly, courteous and helpful. Grounds appeared to be in need of cutting especially along the river bed and the over growth at the site. The campground did meet our needs providing quietness and the opportunity to get away. Maybe on a return trip, we will see some changes.
I didn’t get to stay here as my husbands work contract got cancelled. I called to see if I could get my deposit back and the woman there was so nice and refunded me with no problem. So nice and pleasant, I hope we get a chance to stay there in the future.
Great campsite! Clean bathrooms, rather quiet, and good facilities. Couldn’t have asked for more. We’ll certainly be back!Rooms: 5/5
Great little campground close enough to everything but also far enough away so it's peaceful. Everyone in the office is so incredibly nice and accommodating and Val the owner is a sweetheart!Rooms: 5/5
Worst experience ever! I have been full time RVing for 4 years now and have never had to leave a campground. I booked this site in January for the end of June for 11 nights. Spoke with the woman on the phone debating sites for a while before I picked a site, site E76. I have a 38’ fifth wheel which they were very well aware of. I get to my site and there was so much wrong. For one, the site was laid out so poorly, I wasn’t sure if I was backing in straight or sideways as other back in sites are sideways. I am told to back in straight to the river. The distance between the power pole and the old and cracked concrete pad was maybe 11 or 12 feet. With slides, how do you make this work? The great water hookup was directly in the middle of the site towards the back. Why is it not off the side?! It’s not supposed to be underneath my camper. To top it all off, there is a very large tree directly behind the grey water hookup and directly behind the site. The only way a 38’ fifth wheel is getting in there is to put it in with a crane! No room to straighten out due to the large tree and the sites in front of you on the other side of the road. By the way, the grey water hookups for those sites are in the FRONT of the campsite. Who designed this campground?! I asked to be moved to a site that can accommodate my size rig. Remember, despite me picking my site, they should be aware that this site does not fit my size camper. This site is for a 27ft max travel trailer. My fifth wheel has to unhook from the truck straight due to having a sliding hitch. A very popular thing these days. They told me they couldn’t move me to another site because everyone had booked their sites and chose sites. SO GET ON THE PHONE AND ASK CUSTOMERS IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO SWITCH! I booked a riverfront site, surely someone would want to move to my site. Or be a business and make the decision to switch someone’s site because of YOUR mistake. I wound up finding a spot down the road at a better location AND with full hookups. It turned out to be a blessing, but BEWARE if you have a camper over 30’. Some are there sites are fine for this size camper, but mine wasn’t
We have stayed here twice last time was for 2 weeks to visit family and friends. Everyone is very friendly staff is great ! A lot of sites and restaurants in the area. Looking forward to returning. We are in a 42 foot motor coach. Have no issues getting into the sites.Rooms: 5/5

This will b our 3rd summer here and if u like tranquility and peace the upper campground is incredible with full bathrooms and hot showers and always clean .this campground is our getaway we stay for months we work come home relax lite a fire go for walks and fish the stocked stream in back . The people who run this place are so easy and laid back and will help in any situation and the surrounding area is beautiful with our favorite pizza in town GRAND pizza is new haven za at its best ...also have hammonasset beach within I believe 2 miles from camp and is cts best known beach ... so this campground also has thier own hand made spring fed pond with sand beach which is great .they also have a great camp store a small arcade and game room for the kids and during the summer they do special events on the weekends for the kids. So in a basic nut shell we highly recommend this camp grounds ....I do write goggle reviews with closing in on 100 k views for my food and vacation spots in ct ....we highly enjoy Riverdale rv
I stayed here for 3 months while on assignment for my job. The staff was awesome and I loved the atmosphere. It was laid back enough for the adults to enjoy their time but wholesome enough to feel comfortable having your children stay. The bathrooms were clean and always stocked. The coffee and breakfast sold on the weekends was excellent, decently priced, and a godsend after a long night of work. I once saw a newly arrived client harassing the young staff up front because they didn’t like the laundry sign-up. The woman was being beyond ridiculous from the get go and the young lady at the desk that day handled it with grace and unfailing politeness. Class act all the way. If I ever make it to this part of Connecticut again, this will be the place I stay.
