Rockin' the River 2023 was our first time at River Common in Wilkes-Barre. It was beautiful! We enjoyed the food trucks, music, and atmosphere, but the park itself is lovely. The park river commission did a great job of making sure guests were safe near the water edge, too. Dog-friendliness: Great place to take a dog for a walk
Pictures of inside court house is truly beautiful structure
Rock on the river great time. Will never understand why it's not done more often.
I went to Rockin the River with Stevie Nick and Fleetwood Mac, it was a great atmosphere and the scenery could be unmatched with the sunset in the back, but it most all went downhill from there, from my friend being restricted from using a port-a-potty because it was only for police and security use when there were no signage on the stall, and then losing my cell phone, reported to 3 security members, neither one radioed anyone else, went down again to the spot we sat at, still nothing, and I placed a security alarm on the device and message to call...a guy came out of the trailer and stated would someone answer this phone?...I wont state what was being said from security due to respect but it wasn't nice and I just brushed it off I think security and police really need to step up their business acumen and fairness to the public cause that was the worse I've experienced in years Restrooms: There needs to be more port-a-potties for an event like that, especially when your only allowing security to use one within 500 feet. I noticed there was one up top of the steps but that wasn't enough, people were waiting in line for at least 30 mins Dog-friendliness: It was fairly dog friendly during the event, I give them that!!
Nice family atmosphere Dog-friendliness: Never had a problem taking my dogs there.
It’s a beautiful park however we couldn’t figure out how to drive down into it so we watched cars coming and going to the disc golf section. I entered that section into my map and finally got down to the river.
This is a beautiful addition to the city. The views of the river, courthouse, and Market street bridge are spectacular. The biggest thing lacking in this are is outdoor spaces and trees so we are lucky to have this. I've only been here during the day or the evening concerts in the summer but it seems like a fairly safe area. There is a police presence during events. Not so much during normal times but there are typically enough other people nearby to feel safe. A few more seating areas, garbage cans, and perhaps some drinking fountains and restrooms along the paths would greatly improve the usefulness of the commons but I understand the lack of amenities to be a result of the areas over the top heroin problem. Overall I would recommend this area to anyone looking for some fresh air and or greenery!
Great park, twice I went to Rockin the River this summer, had such a good time
Cute little spot, with close parking. It was a quiet walk. Nice. We enjoyed ourselves. Great place to eat lunch and enjoy yourself.
The demonstration on the Eagles was very informational and worth taking the kids..... more kids need to do things outdoors!!!! Very knowledgeable people who ran the show....hope to participate in more in the future!!!!
