RK Furs is owned and operated by David Schaefer a second generation furrier. David’s father Karl Schaefer was born in Germany and learned his trade from some of Germany’s finest furriers. Generations worth of information was handed down to Karl Schafer while in Frankfurt. Karl moved to Northeastern Pennsylvania in 1967 and opened RK Furs in 1968. We are still in our original Alden, PA location, serving Northeastern Pennsylvania and surrounding areas since 1968. David Schaefer has been practicing the family trade since 1984 and proudly carries on his family tradition.
The fur industry is an ever changing entity. David Schaefer travels the world, in an effort to keep his finger on the pulse of fur fashion and design. David prides himself in designing and manufacturing the majority of his garments on site at their Alden, Pa location. David’s many influences, both traditional and contemporary, allow for some of the finest fur garments to be found anywhere.
