We went here for the cool rope park. It was hard to find if you navigate just to Roanoke Park. Search Rope Playground at Roanoke Park instead. Cool playground!
I love this park, it's a great place to go walk!
It’s a nice park! There is a long sidewalk for jogging or walking. I only saw one trail that went into the trees. I would like more nature trails on a dirt path, but seeing that it is in the city I can’t complain. There is an impressive play ground. It looks intimidating as someone who is afraid of heights. Will good super vision, this would be a good place to take children who enjoy climbing.
I like this park, because it’s easy to access in the heart of midtown Kansas City, MO, but surprisingly still very quiet. Lots of wide open spaces, which is great because my dog doesn’t do well in small areas too close to other dogs. There’s a natural spring running through the park, with signage to describe it. I usually see parents with kids at the children’s play areas there are 2, which are pretty big. Parking is never a problem big parking lot by the football / soccer field, & smaller one right next to that, by the community center. Downsides are that the park isn’t too large, & some parts feel disconnected from others, since it’s shaped to fit between residential blocks. Mountain biking MTB / hiking trails are short & on the hillsides, so I usually don’t go with my dog on them, because it’d be tight if we ran into anyone. Have seen some suspicious-looking people rarely it’s in the city, after all, but never had anything happen or anyone bother me. I also saw a spot where it looks like a homeless person lived / lives tent in between the trees, but never saw anyone there.
The park itself is great. But old red brick road running through it is amazing. Old kansas city vibes
Nice little park. The tiny cave is cool. Love the brick road leading to the park.
wanted to explore a new park to eat my lunch at, and i came across this one. It was very quiet and i got to see a lot of cute dogs and some normal looking kids. the stairs to the left of the park are very steep so proceed with caution. However it is great to throw ice cubes down. The cave to the right of the park is very eerie and dark, but i like the mystery that comes with it. Lastly, i saw a squirrel get knocked out with a fruit, it was the best park ive ever been to.
Tennis courts could use some repair. They have a red brick road.
Roanoke park is a little treasure off of 38th and Wyoming. The park offers tennis, picnic tables, walking trails, and a jungle gym. For the truly adventurous there are some small places to climb. I don't recommend going to this park after dark. Unfortunately homeless people often sleep there and if you encounter them it can be dangerous or annoying at the very least. If you follow the brick road just to the east of the park then you will find a zip line to the north. The best time to go April through September during the day. If you are just arriving in Kansas City and have moved here, be sure and check out the community center just to the east of the park. The community center offers a variety of classes that may interest you.
Used to walk my dog there every day. After a long day at KU I went to Sunfresh and got some fresh fruit salad and enjoyed my lunch picknic on a flat rock under a shade tree. I love this park. I used to go to the community center that was my designated place to vote.
