Established in 1986, the clinic is a small office with a dedicated staff. Patients are thoroughly evaluated, and staff will always take into account the relationship between headaches and other physical conditions. Their focus is on the well-being of the whole person, not just the headache.
Both pharmaceutical and herbal medications are used as preventatives, or when needed by the patient. Medications such as opioids will be used judiciously with refractory headaches, when nothing else seems to work. Dr. Robbins and his staff also employ a variety of proven techniques outside of medications, such as biofeedback and injections of botulinum toxin.
In 2009, Dr. Robbins formally opened an adolescent headache center as part of the Robbins Headache Clinic. The clinic received an “Excellent” risk- management assessment in May, 2010, from the American Physicians Assurance Corporation.
