Serving those who serve us.
The Rochester Police Foundation, founded in 2012, is an independent, nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering public safety, excellence in law enforcement, and a positive relationship between RPD and the community it serves. In partnership with RPD, the foundation works with a range of business and civic leaders, and community safety advocates, to develop and implement public safety initiatives, community and youth outreach programs, and crime prevention programs.
While the City budget provides the necessary and basic resources to fund police operations, RPD struggles to keep pace with new technologies and innovative programs and strategies. Moreover, scarce budget resources limit the opportunity for RPD to pursue outreach programs within the community, especially with our most valuable resource: our youth.
The Rochester Police Foundation works closely with the Chief of Police to develop and implement a strategic program to support several initiatives, including:
Providing assistance to the families of fallen officers
Obtaining state-of-the technologies, equipment, andtraining to support and enhance RPD operations
Implementing youth and community outreach programs
Pursuing projects and research studies to guide improvements in RPD's delivery of police services
Public safety and quality of life in the City of Rochester is a shared government-community responsibility. The Rochester Police Foundation enables everyone to join in partnership with RPD to make the City of Rochester a better place to live, work, and visit.
