We have been customers for several years. The old owner-tom did not know a lot but he always had people who did and the service was always good. The new owners barely acknowledge you when you come in, the fish are not as healthy as before we saw several signs of disease-spots, torn fins cloudy areas on the fish and their stock levels are really low. We bought two power heads on Friday june 21 and they looked really empty. They appear to have bit off more than they could chew remodeling and have neglected everything else. hopefully they will figure out how to run a business before it is too late.
Rude employees and the livestock seems to be sick and poorly cared for. 2 years ago this place was amazing, now it's a laughing stock and they're only after your money. Last time is was there someone asked how many tangs they could put in there 40 gallon and the worker recommended 5 different types. They also claim using their water, sand, and rocks will cycle your tank and you can buy fish the same day. That is complete crap and to this day there is NO product that can COMPLETELY cycle your tank in a day. Their livestock is pathetic too, they may have a lot of fish and corals, but a simple glance will prove how unhealthy and the poor condition the fish are in. Some products MAY make the effects of a cycle lessen but that's a different story. I'm sorry but this place needs a serious reality check and change of ownership/employee/fish-supplier for me to even think about going back.
This place has nose dived since Tom sold it. I used to stop by several times a week because they were always getting new fish in. Now the selection sucks & a lot of the time the fish don't look healthy. The owner barely acknowledges your presence. Apparently their RO system was down last week so they had no water for sale. Truth be told, I don't know if its fixed yet bc after stopping by twice & the same sign was one the door I gave up & went somewhere else
The price at this place is a little more than another place across from a cvs in tampa. The frags were extremely small for the price they were selling it at. The fishes were tiny for the price too. The service was good except I sometimes see one employee gets mad at another. Also, becareful with buying large amount of cleaner crews 30 or 50 snails they tend to short you a few snails 4 or 5, possibly a miscount. I think it is better to give a customer a little more rather than shorting them those snail comes in bulk and cost the store practically nothing.
Just setup my saltwater tank a couple weeks ago, and a huge savings was because of this place. Lots of fish to choose from, and a bunch of used common pieces really helped save me cash on the initial setup. The staff there was great and friendly as well.
Only stocks saltwater critters, but had very cheap prices, clean water systems and used equipment skimmers ect.. for sale. Too bad I dont have a saltwater tank anymore. Also they had some hard to find species, so it not just the normal tangs, damsels and clown fish. They stock the exotics as well.
Great deals on salt water every Wednesday. New owner has really changed the look of the store. More display tanks and, what seems to be a wider selection of stock.
This place is a definite DIVE!! The new owner is an a$$hole and doesn't acknowledge anyone who's in the store!! It was MUCH better when Tom owned it!! If you wanna see a nice store go to Fancy Fish in Bay Pines!!
A true MUST SEE... best selection in town or tampa... rare and common fish and the largest selection of coral at the lowest prices
Before they transferred ownership this place was my go to reef store.....Since they have been bought out...we'll, they are now closed as of the first of November 2013. Way to take a good thing and run it into the ground.
