Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche (1939-1987)--a Tibetan Buddhist master, scholar, poet, teacher, and artist--founded Shambhala in the United States in 1970. Sakong Mipham Rinpoche, the son of Chogyam Trungpa, is the current holder of the Shambhala Buddhist lineage, as well as the Kagyü and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism.
Shambhala Vision is rooted in the principle that every human being has a fundamental nature of basic goodness. This nature can be developed in daily life so that it radiates out to family, friends, community and society.
