This is a very nice little park near the Mission. Very convenient, lots and lots of shade, and as the name suggests...lots of chair sized boulders that make an exceedingly charming and romantic picnic spot. There is a place for the kids, and it has clean restrooms. A good place for photography.
What can I say? Running water always calms my soul. Beautiful park with lots of shade. Tons of oak trees. I did notice a couple homeless men at a couple of different picnic tables sitting by themselves. But sadly that seems the case everywhere these days. But seem to be safe anyways. Lots of friendly people as well.
I love this park it's kind of hidden in Mission Canyon. There are picnic tables, BBQ pits, bathrooms are handicapped accessable and clean. There is a running creek, trails to hike, lots of old trees that provide shade. It has a playground. You can watch the squirrels climb the trees and if you look up at the sky you might see a Red Tail Hawk or a Peregrine Falcon flying by with a mob of crows chasing both of them!! It's about 1 block away from Santa Barbara's Old Mission and across the street from Santa Barbara's Museum of Natural History!!
Great park, grab your picnic basket and bring the family. Lots of fun, small park but plenty of things to explore. Dog-friendliness: Keep your four legged family members on their leashes but plenty of walking space. Picnic area: Plenty of BBQ spaces!
Very pretty place for a dog walk. Easy to walk around. A bit crowded though and people drove really fast past pedestrians and there's some private property adjacent you need to be aware of. But otherwise it's very pretty and worth a stop if you're in the area.
Not your typical park, albiet beautiful in it's own right. Dominated by oak trees and large boulders. There is a playground but no other general open space or grass. Plenty of picnic tables and BBQs.
Beautiful park. Lots of boulders for the kids to climb. Good playground. Picnic tables with BBQS, clean tables, clean restrooms, fairly quiet. Beautiful trees, next to Mission Creek which is dry most of the time, only runs during rainy days. Close proximity to the Mission and natural history museum. Parking is limited, but not usually a problem unless it's a holiday weekend or there is a large group in the one reservable area. Definitely a favorite in my family.
They have grilles for you to come and cook whatever you want, many outdoor tables at least 40ft apart from each other, and a small creek that flows through the border of the park. Very nice and the climate is usually nice as well 60-80F
What doesn't this park have? I'm not sure, it hit all the points for my family. We are traveling for the holidays and just happened upon this park. We were able to make sandwiches for lunch on the picnic table and explore the creek. The restrooms were very clean and the park was awesome! Check it out, totally awesome little park!
A beautiful park for kids, parents, picnics, BBQs, hiking, biking, walking the dogs or for seeking peace and quiet away from the city. Some people say the homeless there are a problem, however, my family, friends, & I have never had any problems in the many years we've been going there & have personally witnessed the people without homes taking better care of the park than the visitors who have homes. Santa Barbara has become far too hostile towards people without homes & as lifelong locals, we don't appreciate that attitude of hostility. Let's all keep Santa Barbara the easy going and all people inclusive place that's been so attractive to world travelers for years to come :
