Description

Rolling Green Memorial Park was founded in 1938. It was originally a farm and later served as the Chester County Fairgrounds, which hosted automobile and horse racing. When the property was sold to Rolling Green in February 1938, its heritage as the Philadelphia area's premier African-American cemetery had begun.

There are many well-known celebrities in the sports and entertainment worlds who have their family's burial estates at Rolling Green Memorial Park. There are also numerous government officials and veterans of major wars buried at Rolling Green. Rolling Green Memorial Park has a rich history of tradition and is open to all people, regardless of their race, religion, creed, or national origin. It is considered by many to be the finest cemetery of its kind in the Philadelphia area.

Sharing with you a horrible experience. Nov 11, 2021 was my mothers funeral. The opening and closing of her grave fully paid many days prior to arrival. My mother purchased her grave and vault many years ago. We arrived only to be told that due to an error in the office, no one dug my mothers grave. My family and I were beyond upset. We were offered a choice between waiting 2 1/2 hrs with my all of my family and friends or have a ceremony in the chapel and temporarily placing her in a mausoleum. We opted for the mausoleum. We returned to the office where they attempted to offer a burial for next week. We informed them this was highly unacceptable. My mother needed to be buried tomorrow. Our family including my 97 yr old father and brother are not available next week. They live in a distant state. The cemetery apologized , but the emotional damage was done and will remain forever. We expect full compensation for this error.
Our family has a lot of my family buried in this cemetery. My oldest brother passed away last week and he was suppose to be buried in the same section with our father and the rest of our family. yesterday was the day for my brothers burial. Unfortunately we were unable to lay him to rest peacefully with our family Due to the incompetence of this place!! Tracey Romans one of the SO CALL MANAGERS there along with another SO CALLED MANAGER STACEY GRAY thought that it was ALRIGHT for them to dig up a whole on the other side of the cemetery where our family is no where buried on that side. We specifically told them where we wanted our brother buried everything was set in stone! I would like to know why they would take it upon themselves to think that was ok to do??!!! Also if there was a problem to dig up the whole for my brother in the spot that was for him…WHY DIDNT ANYONE CALL ME???!!!!!! However to take the payment out of my account THEY WERE REALLY QUICK TO TAKE THE MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT!! But for a PROBLEM like this, why would you not think it’s ok to call and discuss this with me????? IM BEYOND UPSET!!!! The LEVEL OF DISRESPECT ALL OF THIS IS BY FAR UNACCEPTABLE!!!! I will be contacting the owner. I will be contacting the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU ABOUT THIS!!! I will be contacting EVERYONE!!!! I will also put this all Over social media!! I will let this be known to ALL OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. SO THAT THEY MAY NEVER USE THIS PLACE TO BURY THEIR FAMILY!! NO ONE SHOULD GO THROUGH WHAT WE WENT THROUGH YESTERDAY!!!!
The customer service is horrible, they only have urgency when they are looking to get the payment for a sale. My husband and I purchased a headstone for my mother in law and her late husband, they installed the WRONG headstone! They will email you a design for you to give the proof an approval...however, there is ZERO follow up! They install a bare bones /wrong shape headstone without double checking with their own records if it was correct or NOT. They DID NOT call or confirm with my mother in law when the headstone came in, Instead it was INSTALLED! She went to see it and this is how she found out it was incorrect. After telling them, NOT one person call to update her on the status...no apology, no service. Just trash!
Everyone is very kind,thoughtful and respectful to all that comes to ROLLING GREEN. I FEEL AT PEACE WHEN I GO TO VISIT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
I visited my grandmother last week. I couldn't find the grave because I was a child when I last visit. The friendly staff member in the office came out and assisted me in finding my grandmother after all of these yrs. I'm so grateful! I'm now considering buying a grave for my wife and I in the near future.
We are very dissatisfied with the service we have received after the death of our mother. When we called to report the death , we were told that there wasn't any space reserved in the mausoleum. However, 2014, when my father died, we purchased a space for my mother as well and received the deeds for both. We had to fax the deeds to them as proof that we had purchased the space. When we had our meeting with Ken Boston to go over the details for the service, we gave him pictures for both parents to be placed on the plaques which were later lost. The day of the service, there was a different procedure performed than my father before placing the casket in the wall. Two men, one who was seemingly being trained, put a covering over the casket very clumsily reminding us of putting a trash bag over our mother's casket . It was a very uncomfortable and somewhat disrespectful moment for the family as well as the friends that were present. We went to the cemetery the following week to express our dissatisfaction and talked to Tracy Roman. She had the groundsman, Mark, to explain the new procedure. He was very compassionate and we appreciated the conversation we had with him. After visiting our Mom and Dad sites in the mausoleum in May, there are no pictures and no name on my my mother's plaque. We talked to Ebony who was looking into the matter who said she hadn't received any pictures and no order to complete Mom's plaque. We had to send more pictures to her. At this time , seven months later, we have no plaque or pictures and no update. For the money spent, to send off our parents in a deserving manner, this service is unacceptable.
Unfortunately, many years ago, my family purchased a number of plots from Rolling Green. After dealing with them over the years, I’m still amazed at their poor customer service and unprofessionalism. In an industry where compassion and empathy should abound, it is sadly lacking at Rolling Green.
I have never buried anyone before this and many of my family are here so it surely will be used again but i will say there is a lot of confusion with the handling of documentation and receipts in the office. My purchase was not found in the portal and when my marker was completed i was not notified. Please keep your documentation in case this happens to you. I was really afraid and potentially could have paid for the wrong marker if i did not have record. I do like the park and the place is pretty.
I had a horrible experience with the cemetery representative. I was told at the time of my mom's death that as a courtesy of the cemetery that they would send Thank You cards to the people who attended the funeral, on which never occurred back in late February. I had to go to the cemetery in order to retrieve my mom's funeral guest book because the so called representative never gave it back to me as promised. To add insult to injury, she told me that she would send the cards, which has not occured up to today. I think Ms. Romans is very unprofessional as well as deceiving during my time of bereavement.
Seems like my family loves this place mother grandmother grandfather 2 uncles and aunt are here . On behalf of the Mckendrick family we love you and appreciate your warmth kindness and sympathy in this time of bereavement
