Everyone at Rome River Side camp ground from Tom and Heather, Bruce, John, and Josh are very helpful from the 1st day we arrived to our seasonal site in 2023. We are here for years to come. We also have to mention Pickets Country Store a quarter mile away. The food they offer is great. The mini grocery section is nice to have so close to the campground. We are so happy to have found this campsite.
This is a campground and is very family oriented. Great river ride even when the water is low.Location: 5/5
We stayed for 2 nights as we were in town for a couple of shows at Alpine Valley. The grounds were very green and clean. The staff was extremely friendly too. They even delivered complimentary ice and picked up the trash daily. I'd highly recommend!Service: 5/5
The folks at Rome Riverside really went the extra mile with the Phish 'family' this year for Alpine, making sure everybody had a good time, was safe, had what they needed, and had nice spots. Families with kids got extra care as the crew did their best to make sure we all had what we needed. The lazy river was very cute, and ginormous fish not the band were jumping and getting caught by the longer term residents; bring your fishing poles.
Thank you Tom and the entire staff at RomeRiverside for a great Fourth of July weekend. Management stayed in contact with me months prior to arrival and called me the morning of arrival to wish us safe travels. We had a group of 20 attending Dave Matthews Band concert at Alpine with shuttle service that was outstanding. Showers and bathrooms we clean and with hot water which is a change for most of us!! We will definitely be back in the future!!
Rome riverside is the spot to be! Tom & Heather owners/operators go above and beyond to make sure your time there is enjoyable and relaxing. The camp grounds and services are super clean and well laid out. It is located in the quaint small town of Sullivan, WI with a general store in walking distance that’s well appointed with any sundries you might need during your stay. As well the Black Frog Grill is just a short ride down the road and offers really decent food/drinks/service. This was my first visit but it won’t be my last. Almost every year since 2001 I’ve tried to attend at least one concert at Alpine Valley Amphitheater in East Troy, WI. Over the years I have stayed at the Cove hotel in Lake Geneva, rented Airbnb‘s in the East Troy area, I’ve stayed at McIntyre‘s resort, the comfort inn, the Grand Geneva and I’ve also stayed at several of the different most popular camp sites. I must say there are a lot of options that cater to the alpine valley concert crowds but after the absolutely wonderful time here at Rome Riverside I will be calling this home for all future Alpine Shows!!! Even if you’re not going to attend a show this campground would be great for setting up the RV for the summer or a quick weekend. Like I said the campground is well laid out and Tom and Heather are smart individuals so they know how to keep everyone happy and co existing . The front of the campground is mostly dedicated to those staying more than just a couple days and they have full RV pads/hookups. But the front does also have a nice little park area for some tent camping and daytime activities. As well as clean and robust INDOOR BATHROOMS W/ HOT SHOWERS! They even have cool mobile home sites with decks and patios ready for you to pull up and settle in for the whole season. The back area of the campground is all beautiful grass fields with mature trees and it’s designated for tent camping. For weekends that have shows at Alpine like my recent stay they turn the whole tent camping area into a exclusive area for the show attendees and even offered shuttle buses to/from the venue as a very reasonable add on option to the camp site fee. Not to mention they had a wonderful grounds crew that was readily available to provide what ever I needed during my stay and trust me I asked for a lot!!! Lol, I asked for a rake, I asked for ice, I asked for first aid supplies and I asked for extra leveling blocks for my RV. I mean it was quite unbelievable the level of customer service I received. Every time I asked they had what I needed and they gave it to me with a smile on their face. As I mentioned I had an RV and although the back area is normally designated for tent only camping Tom has sectioned off several 50 x 50‘ RV spots that he had staked out with numbers and so whether you’re coming to see a show in a tent or in an RV he will have a spot for you. And it was really nice that he kept all the show goers in the same back area regardless of what they were staying in because it made it convenient for everyone to get on and off of the shuttle and feel like a community and have camaraderie with fellow show goers. Plus it afforded us the option to stay up late, have a bonfire, play music and instruments and it have no negative impact to those staying at the campground who were not attending the Alpine shows. In addition to the grounds crew there was a small security outfit that gave you the peace of mind that’s needed to relax but in no way did they ever infringe on our fun or make us feel “watched”. Honestly their presence was so understated that I forgot there was any! Which is exactly how you want it to be. Whether you’re coming for a quiet camping weekend with the family or you’re gonna go see Phish at Alpine and want to cut loose Tom has it down to a science. The vibe was perfect, the accommodations were exceptional and if you’re looking for a place that’s not rigid or stuffy that attracts chill adults this is the place for you. It was drama free, degenerate free and nothing but love!
We spoke with the owners who presented as kind during the conversation prior to arrival. Had we not done so, based upon the contentious non greeting we received from the manager, we would have gone elsewhere. Upon the manager seeing us waiting, he approached in an agitated manner, negative tone of voice and body language. He acted as though we were an interference to his evening. Despite his attitude toward us, we paid $45/ night for tent camping with access to porta potties. The lower level where the Rvs are, has shower and regular toilets. However, the women's shower window has what appears to be a camera situated off center outside the window. You can clearly see the camera lens while standing in the shower stall on the left. Presuming the camera is 180° - it's view includes the women's restroom/ shower area. Just to note, the camera another guest verified that's what it was was not centered on the front of the building as would be expected, but additional line run from the outlet to be able to set it up outside the window. The shower area also doesn't include any shelves or chairs to put personal items onto while showering, so you have to walk in front of the window to put items in the sink area.
We were in the right place at the right time finding this wonderful camping getaway! Great people, dog friendly, it's home away from home! Looking forward to many relaxing and blissful nights with family and friends. Its conveniently located less than an hour from the hustling and bustling of Milwaukee, which helps creating a complete change in attitude....
Camped over a weekend for a show at alpine valley. We thought it was a great place and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They delivered ice and picked up our trash daily for free.
We absolutely love this campground! We went for the weekend to see DMB and stayed here for two nights. They have a shuttle to take you to and from Alpine Valley for concerts which is fantastic! The check-in process is super easy which is nice when arriving to campgrounds. Linda and her husband are the sweetest. They take you to your campsite so you aren't lost and trying to find it. They bring firewood to your campsite after purchasing and if you don't have a fire pit, they build you one! Their customer service is up and beyond. We are in the process of planning our next trip to this campground! We LOVE it here. I highly recommend!
